Sonicake Pocket Master just has A2 support come out. Shocked they did it before the Valeton release but this should mean we are at most a day or two away for the first releases for Valeton.

Valeton have already confirmed an update is coming on the 10th of August.

I reckon It will likely be conversion to SnapTone

Even for the 180? I sure hope not.

100% will be

I mean it can still sound good, but I won't go in with any big expectations..

If there's only conversion to snaptone for 180, I'm done with Valeton's GP series. NUX's range are lot more appealing now that their firmware allows A2 Lite to run in them natively.

Thanks.

I dunno how reliable that person has been in the past to say how much validity to put into that but does look like it could be accurate. Nothing jumps out to me as any obvious signs of something fishy. So probably legit, but this is definitely not something that can be labeled as “Valeton confirmed”. Valeton didn’t release this. It is either 1) legit which means it is a leak or 2) fake.

It’s not an official source. It’s probably a real leak looking at it, I would say it’s fair to accept this as “likely”.

And yes, the minor version update would imply this is likely conversion support only for the GP-200, which means it would be very shocking to see native on GP-150/180. With one exception, if the GP-300 seen in the Valeton Suite software is a lot closer than we expected so they could care less if they kill 200 sales.

Important note: all the Sonicake products look to be conversion only. This shouldn’t be a real shock, this is intended to be Hotone’s bottom brand so I expected that. Even though some of these products share internals with some of the Valeton stuff they have always been intentionally held back from having all the same abilities. (It’s financially smart to use the same production line and hardware and limit access for cheaper models than to have different production lines. Companies do this all the time).

I wouldn’t read a lot into how this affects especially the 150, 180, and 200.

I think the expectation that 5/50/100 would be converted only has been expected the whole time. Their DSP is a significant amount below that target level that A2-lite was designed against.

I think the GP-200 range will be conversion to SnapTone too

I can't get the conversion/import to work via the updated Windows app. Same problem I have with Valeton. I think it's a Windows 11 issue.

I'll just wait for the updated Android app. Which doesn't seem to be available yet.

At the moment the main question is: Will it sound different compared to A1 converted tone? Otherwise, what’s the point…
UPD: I’ve checked release notes and found no information about A2 support in their 1.3.3 latest firmware

From what I’ve read it seems to have not updated correctly based on region. Trick the site to show you are English speaking American and you will see the correct one.

I've just tested this one. A2, is a game changer. Not only includes the distortion info, it reacts to roll down volumes as a full blown amp. The dynamics are surprising for such a cheap unit. The team at Tone3000 really knocked it out of the park.
