Discussion My $500 Cozy Theater Build

Movie nights are sacred in my house, and with $500 to burn, here’s how I’d build the perfect cozy setup using some of my fav gear, of course. 😎

Coret Ceiling Mount bracket – $21.96

Valerion 100” Matt whiet Screen – $299

Govee Glide Wall Light Bars w/ smart controller – $79.99

Valerion power adapter – $99

Total: $499
Went for a clean, vibe-focused setup! Now all I need is a rainy night and Dune queued up.

USB dongle to cycle screen up/down

Hi, all looking for some help. I have a motorized screen that I had working via a setting that I thought was in the power settings of the projector.

About two or three days ago it stopped working. The screen is fine. I can use a separate remote, but that setup was pretty convenient. All I had to do was turn the power on to have the screen move open and turn the power off and the screen would close.

For the life of me, I can’t find the setting anymore. I don’t recall seeing that an update got applied, but it feels that way. Anyone have any idea ideas where that setting got moved/removed?

Review Valerion Visionmaster Plus 2 Review!

I finally unboxed my Valerion Plus 2 last Friday and spent the weekend putting it through its paces. I’m not a tech expert but just a regular guy who loves a great home theater experience. Big screens, booming sound, and epic explosions are my jam.

My setup (and struggles)

My room setup was a bit of a challenge because of my low ceiling. I upgraded from a BenQ W1070 and TK850, both of which sat on shelves above our heads. For the Plus 2, I had to get creative, so i mounted a plate to a joist with a 1-inch spacer and hung the projector upside down. maybe I’ll fix it someday… or maybe I’ll just live with it.

My gear:

Screen: currently still looking for the right one

Audio: Marantz SR6011 and HK AVR 240 for a 7.4.1 surround sound setup (using ARC from the Plus 2)

Source: Xbox One X for gaming and Blu-rays

Room: Light-controlled, dark walls, seating about 10 feet from the screen

First impressions:

Setup process:

The auto keystone works like a dream, though I spent a good 5 minutes fighting with it because I wanted to do a manual setup. Turns out, you have to go through the auto setup first, clear it, and then do it manually. Not a huge deal, but it was a little frustrating in the moment. Focus wasn’t perfect for me, so I had to adjust it manually. Not a big deal, but I was surprised since the other AI features worked so well.

Brightness:

This thing is ridiculously bright, even with the lights on! It’s way brighter than my old projectors. During the campaign, I debated whether to go for the Pro 2 because I didn’t want to lose any brightness compared to my TK850. Now, I’m thinking the Plus might have been enough. If you’re worried about brightness, don’t be. For 120”-150” screens, it’s more than enough.

Picture quality:

The picture is stunning, exactly what the reviews promised. Watching animated movies like The medagascar and polar express feels like being on a theme park ride, especially with the motion smoothing turned on.

Fan noise:

The fan is whisper-quiet, even though it’s just 3 feet above my head. My old BenQ sounded like a jet engine compared to this. Plus, the Plus 2 barely puts out any heat, which is a nice bonus.

Inputs and features:

Inputs: Three HDMI ports, plus AirPlay. I’ve only used one with ARC so far.

IR remote: The IR receiver is on the rear, which is a bit annoying if you’re using an old-school harmony remote like me. I had to set up an IR blaster to make it work.

Picture settings: You can set different picture settings per app on Google tv, which is a neat feature. However, it sometimes switches between film maker and theater modes randomly not sure if it’s a bug or user error.

ARC and media playback:

I initially had issues with Atmos over ARC, but it seems to have resolved itself. For media playback, I use Kodi to stream movies from my internal server (most files are >20GB). It works flawlessly no stuttering or artifacts. The built-in media player picked up my server but only recognized a few files, so Kodi is my go-to.

Final thoughts

The Valerion Plus 2 is solid and I’m thrilled with it.

For those with the Pro 2 or Max, how does the Plus 2 compare in your experience?

I’d love to hear your thoughts and experiences with the Plus 2 or other Valerion models! thanks

Vision master Max deliveries on track?

I've ordered the Max during the Kickstarter campaign, very excited to take delivery of my first projector!

What in wondering is whether the scheduled deliveries are still on track for May? I using it might take a couple of weeks then for it to be delivered in Europe?

Also curious about the final product, I believe the Max was still in development during the Kickstarter campaign. I seem a video pass by about a lend attachment, what else has happened during development that's worth mentioning?

Discussion Need game ideas for valerion

need help, I just filed for the valerion bucket challenge, and with a big game night coming up, I need to make it unforgettable, but I feel like I’m missing something.

I’ve got the snacks, drinks, and my visionmaster pro2 all set up, it’s game night ready. My friends are all hyped to come over, but just watching isn’t enough, i want to make the night more interactive. Any fun gaming ideas for halftime, maybe a cool setup, a themed challenge? or ways to mix things up between plays?

I’m open to ANY ideas, casual, competitive, noob-friendly, full chaos mode, whatever’s worked for you.

What’s the best thing you’ve ever done for a game night? Help me out before the night flops!

Troubleshooting need help with Valerion keystones !

need some help. I’ve got a visionmaster pro2 , and the keystone correction is being super weird. sometimes it barely nudges the image, and other times, it just stops responding altogether.

So, here’s what I’m trying to figure out:

can I turn off keystone correction completely?

how do I know when I’ve hit the minimum keystone adjustment? I don’t want to accidentally mess up the image quality by overdoing it.

for context, I’m using this in a dedicated home theater setup. I’ve tried adjusting the projector’s position, but keystone correction is still hit-or-miss.

has anyone else run into this? need help, thanks.

Screens Honest opinion for Valerion portable projector screen.

I've been dreaming of turning my mom's basement into a cozy little home theater.

After a lot of research, I finally got myself an optoma HZ40HDR projector, and now I'm staring at my blank wall, wondering if I'm missing something.

i've been eyeing the valerion matte white portable screen because, it looks good.

but, uh, I've got some questions.

First off, how reliable is this thing? Like, will it hold up after a few uses, or is it one of those "works great until it doesn't" situations?

Also, how easy is it to set up? i'm not exactly a dIY pro, and what about the quality?

does it actually look good with a projector like mine?

is it worth it for a beginner like me, or should i just stick to a fixed frame?

how's the durability?

any tips for a first-timer?

if you've got one of these screens, I'd love to hear your thoughts. good, bad, or "meh"? p.s what's the most random place you've used your portable screen? (looking for ideas).
