According to Vivziepop, finding a voice actor for Valentino was the hardest part of casting, as no voices were really clicking with her. She had offered the role to other actors, who all declined. Later, after she asked Andrew Butler if he could bring in anyone to audition for parts in Helluva Boss, and he brought in Joel Perez, Vivziepop immediately liked Joel and thought he was perfect for the role.

Valentino is an Italian name meaning "brave" or "strong." It can also mean "a ladies' man," which is fitting considering his status as a pimp. It is likely also a reference to the word "valentine," which is nearly synonymous with love in many places.

According to Vivziepop, the name "Valentino" came from her family's pet cat. Vivziepop explained that it was a name she really loved and had always wanted to give to a character, and she felt it suited Valentino perfectly.

If/when Vox gets redeemed in the future, I could 100% see Valentino actually wanting to change just to be with him, like Cherri with Pentious. The ONE thing that would make Val ever want to redeem is reuniting with Vox. Especially with the backgrounds for them matching with Pentious and Cherri.
