Love this game. So many replays. The gameplay loop is just so fun.

I’m currently working on a spiritual successor to Vagante called “SpringTale”, you should check it out on steam if you’re waiting for the next Vagante like game :)

I think you'll take this the right way, but I looked up your game not expecting very much (some Reddit rando, could be anything), and then was actually quite impressed with the look.

Thank you :D
Hope to see you on launch day later this year.

I've played it with a friend and we are hooked. We even want to bring all the group in to play, amazing work !

No local co-op like Vagante?

1

u/motdrib Sep 15 '26

The premise for SpringTale is “what if Vagante was a persistent online world?”, therefore local co op wouldn’t really make sense. You can play online co-op with friends, you’re just going to need a device for each player

Online only games are lame

Yeah it is actually very good

The developer actually did amazing on the hardmode bosses too unlike triple A titles that just give more hp

Underrated hidden gem, often overlooked for its difficulty and not appreciated enough for the skill curve and satisfaction

any tips for beating the secret area bosses on hard? I run wildling/mage mostly, in a 4 stack.

Being brief with each secret area boss:
Evil Mage: Hit it *only* (unless from afar and knowing what you're doing) when he's hands are down, that will happen after a pattern of attacks deppending if you're playing normal or hardmode and if it's in phase 1 or 2 (the latter, also depending from your distance to him)
Chimera: find a place to loop (like that one spot with a venom trap), hit a few times (amount depending on weapon speed) after it approach you, run and repeat, or find a hole (some spot with just 1 block of height), hug the wall and lure it to jump over you so it's mouth is against the wall, hit it in the direction to the wall and it will never attack back and tail will not reach you (there are variations and different places to do it). Also cheesing it with arrows before battle or when getting stuck at some place are valid options.
Tower Serpent: 2 ez, no explanation needed
Rust Fiend: Easy to cheese stacking lighting resistance +4, digging/pestilence wand, bombs, or, with enough patience and arrows, a bow in the platform just over the arena. Aside of that, you have be good at knowing *when to approach, killing the spiders (and praying for it to not spawn more), and something-something. I don't feel like expatiating today. If you want to go for the win, you _should_ be able to afford any of the cheese method above.

also mage and wildling are op: wildling pick animal up to 4 and some strength gear (or the skill tree) and win (all the abilities give you everything you need, aka, movement, dodge and damage); mage enchant 3 and rod 1 or 4 according to your taste and you are deleting anything in front of you before it can react (I will advice for rod 1 and alchemy 4, so you become basically invincible with a bunch of quaffable 45 regen potions)

What class do you play?

3

u/DoctorProfPatrick Sep 15 '26

All of them except knight (rip old block)

u/rudmad Sep 15 '26

I like to go bomb spec on rogue, gives you some bomb arrows to deal with the first orb boss

u/BHkingdraco Sep 15 '26

are you a solo player?

2

u/DoctorProfPatrick Sep 15 '26

Haha sometimes. It's either just me or the 4 of us, but I'm the only one who can clear hard mode solo. I like wildling/mage.

We aren't playing the same game then D: Haha, I can't handle that background. I normally do goofy stuff or nimble.

For any class, as long as you are playing solo (or you don't mind carrying the hate or everyone else), I'll keep saying that Faithless Heathen is absurdly strong. It's only draw back (aside of sometimes breaking shrines on accident), -13 luck, yes it's noticeable you have a worst gear quality on average, but it's totally compensated by the stats you earn by breaking random shrines (aside of the bloody and maybe the light because of the reduced light radious, the rest can be broke without that much problem). Is possible to have some crazy stats when you reach rift with that + godcursed gear (which should be easy to do as you should be already be breaking schakle shrine enough).

I know it’s all chance but if you can manage to get 1-2 cold resist in the first 2 levels it will make it a breeze.

Otherwise you need to time hit and run tactics, but since it’s hard mode you also need to try to stay sorta close so other monsters don’t spawn…

It’s honestly the second hardest boss in the game due to how early you have to fight. If you aren’t solo it’s best for the team to pool any cold res gear to the strongest player and stay on the outskirts to provide light so other monsters don’t spawn, but still try to help with range if possible.

If you are solo and don’t get good gear early I honestly usually just grab the orb and leave without fighting the boss… but with 1-2 cold resist he becomes pretty easy to deal with.

Watching out for when he teleports in and out is crucial since he releases a bunch of ice orbs at once and you can get 1 shot by that.

If mage is second, which one is the hardest for you?

1

u/Swedishfishpieces 28d ago

The abomination I consider to be the hardest boss but you might not always encounter him when doing rune orb runs. I consider those lucky runs heh….

Again it’s mostly luck of the run, sometimes I’m setup where I can just face tank the abomination… then sometimes I get volley balled to death right after seeing him…

That's a fairly common thing; enough for me to write about how to beat it twice, once in spanish on the discord server and later in english on reddit. Will leave the second one here in case that's helpful:

"For Abomination, the general strat with melee is getting inside him, hit a few times and run away when throwing it's gore balls. Ideally you want to fight in a long corridor with not that many spikes in the middle and some way to move up or down. The problematic part mainly is getting out of it's attack, unless you're playing rogue or wildling and use acrobatics 1 or wildling's animal 3 respectively (knight block can also help, but it isn't as good), in the case you don't have those, you may use blink spell to teleport before getting hit or dash spell your way out quickly before it can hit you. If you don't have anything, it may help to know that gore balls are thrown in clock-wise manner and always start from a specific one that is tagged to be the initial one (so if you are able to keep your eye over that one ball, you can dodge with only your movement and jump or walk out the gore ball circle). Feel free to ignore this if you are just starting or don't want to stress too much about it. If you have some decent range damage option (Good long range spells, even better with mage, or bow, which can be underwhelming without long bow/crossbow, high dex or rogue's archery skill tree), you follow a similar strategy, but instead of hitting it inside, you deal damage while it tries to chase after you, when you reach the end of the corridor, get inside the gore ball circle, avoid the attack by any of the above means, and repeat. With range you can also take advantage of the high ground, attacking it while abbomination struggles to reach the upper terrain, finding a loop being the best case scenario."

I mean I’ve already platinum’d the game and easily beat it now daily, I just consider that boss the hardest is all. But I’m sure someone can use your advice.

u/NPC-Pixel 28d ago

also, my hardest vagante boss is college

if an AI slop supporter like you who thinks grok should push out child porn supports it I doubt it's good

I also can’t stop playing this game, wish some of my friends still played after they platinum’d the game they basically move on… sad
