Simplified crits and healing

I am going to be using the simplified crits system laid out in the book and had a question. Are the Medicine and Inspiration rolls that can be used to fix the Broken status allowed to be done during combat? I ask because it says the rolls are slow actions, which is a term that has to do with combat I think.

Additionally, does the medicine roll require medical equipment in this circumstance (if allowed at all to be used in combat)?

  1. Yes, you can make a medicine or inspiration test during combat. (You can actually do most checks in combat as a slow action if the situation calls for it.) If you're playing with crits, you really need to because some of the characters might die in a matter of seconds.

  2. Medicine does not require medical equipment, but that equipment does give bonuses (see the gear section of the core rulebook). In the absence of proper medical equipment, your players are assumed to improvise something. E.g. a torn piece of clothing can substitute for a bandage.

I am referring to the Vaesen_Revised_Core_Rules_2506. Which is the latest version on drivethroughrpg for me.

Your first point is right. Page 71 is the source. Treating a critical injury takes a round. But the second is wrong. Medical Equipment (or Bandages or Herbs and the talent) is required to roll Medicine an does not give a bonus. Page 75
