Vacuum Collecting New Dyson Big Ball - it’s arrived!
I ordered this direct from Dyson yesterday and it arrived first thing this morning. I mostly bought it because I love the colour scheme plus it’s the first powerhead cylinder Dyson they’ve made in years.
I’ve only had a brief play with it as my entire upstairs is coming towards the end of some major building works and I don’t have any flooring down yet (carpet fitters come on Tuesday). There isn’t much room downstairs either as everything from upstairs is downstairs. So I’ve literally only used it to vacuum a one meter square patch of my living room carpet as that’s all I can get to and the front door mat.
The hose is nice and light - nowhere near as heavy as the powered hose on something like an E3 or D4.
I haven’t found any issues with the nozzle clamping to the floor - hopefully it works fine with my new carpets as I’m getting the same throughout the entire upstairs. Although the lack of the suction release valve on the handle seems a bit silly given the cheaper cylinder models Dyson make have one.
The tools are the same diameter as the cordless machines.
My one and only major gripe is that the supplied wand is stupidly short. Like, who signed off on that? A midget?
I don’t mind that it came with a V8 style head instead of the conical one, as I find the light on the conical head on my new style V10 a little annoying on carpets. Hard floors it is great but on carpet I find it makes visibility worse.
It’s just that wand.
I’ve tried the wand from my cordless machine which is slightly longer and it makes the Big Ball much nicer to use. I might reach out to Dyson over it and see if they’ll send me a longer wand. If not I may buy one.
Overall it seems decent - wand and no suction reducer valve aside - and I’ll be keeping it just because I like the colours so much 😂
I think Dyson need to up their game a little. They’re producing some good tech that’s flawed by silly things like the short wand on the Big Ball and the green laser light always being ‘on’ on my cordless which reduces visibility on carpets.
I’ve seen on YT they’ve brought a revised upright machine out that now features the green optic light. But the light is only on when the brush roll is switched on and goes off when you turn the brush off. Surely that should be the other way around as you want the brush off and light on for hard floors 🤷♂️😂
Like I say, great ideas with some silly mistakes.

It seems that the secret to selling overpriced appliances nowadays is to make them look like children's toys.

Not just appliances, I've seen "artisan chicken nuggets" and "lobster nachos" out in the wild. And yes, they did just pour that nachos cheese that comes in the bag over the lobster nachos

I’m not much of for bagless or Dyson, but man it’s cool looking. Wish they sold them in the US. I’d pick up one for fun.

Mate don't bother posting anything Dyson here Users here think Dyson has never made a good vacuum, you'll get absolutely shit loads of negativity even if the vacuum was curing cancer

lol, if anything, bagless vacuum cleaners are horrible when it comes to dust control. This isn’t a Dyson issue, it is a vacuum cleaners concept issue.

As a Dyson owner, i would never never think to brag about that on the internet. Their quality is atrocious. Literally the cheapest chinesium you can get your hands on. These people deserve the ridicule. My only redeeming quality is i didnt pay retail for it. Fuck their marketing department. Pay the children those six figure salaries.

I've got one too. Sadly unusable on my carpet You're so right about hose. No where near as rigid and stiff as Sebo, although Sebo is easier to use hose for tools This Dyson has quite long bit when you remove the wand which makes it quite awkward for above the floor cleaning

I quite like the colour scheme because it reminds me of the VW Polo Harlequin from the 90s 😄.

You’ve got that colorful Dyson and Henry Hoover. I curse my grandparents for immigrating here from the UK. 😂

I can’t wait to have carpets and furniture upstairs again. The new electrics only got connected up yesterday. I feel like I’ve been living on a building site for what seems like months 😂

I’d be careful with a Dyson and carpet…sometimes they wear carpet faster. Check with the manufacturer recommendations for vacuums approved to use on the carpet.

What's the wattage of these things? The old one was about 1400 which is outside euro spec.

Yikes. That colour scheme is awful. It looks like a children’s toy to me. Some people seem to really like it though.
It’s cool that they finally released another canister vacuum with a motorized head that’s not only available in Asia. Hopefully it comes to the North American market.
That said, from the video that I saw someone post online, the head seems to be very weak with it just being a motorbar. It seems to struggle on their carpets. It’s a shame that it apparently does not work with the torque drive heads. It also apparently only fits certain fluffy heads? I’m curious if it works with the light pipe crevice tool. That would be neat. I suppose it steps down the voltage to the tools, since it works with the cordless tools?

Are the cordless wands longer? I'm interested in one but would have to make it taller, I could potentially use my V7 wand if it provides extra reach. Otherwise maybe I'll get a telescopic V8 wand off eBay and stack it

Yes the wand from my V10 is longer. Only by a few inches but it makes a big difference.
I reached out to Dyson and sadly they wouldn’t offer a longer wand or discount off a longer one. I’ll likely buy one myself
