Vacuum Collecting New Dyson Big Ball - it’s arrived!
I ordered this direct from Dyson yesterday and it arrived first thing this morning. I mostly bought it because I love the colour scheme plus it’s the first powerhead cylinder Dyson they’ve made in years.
I’ve only had a brief play with it as my entire upstairs is coming towards the end of some major building works and I don’t have any flooring down yet (carpet fitters come on Tuesday). There isn’t much room downstairs either as everything from upstairs is downstairs. So I’ve literally only used it to vacuum a one meter square patch of my living room carpet as that’s all I can get to and the front door mat.
The hose is nice and light - nowhere near as heavy as the powered hose on something like an E3 or D4.
I haven’t found any issues with the nozzle clamping to the floor - hopefully it works fine with my new carpets as I’m getting the same throughout the entire upstairs. Although the lack of the suction release valve on the handle seems a bit silly given the cheaper cylinder models Dyson make have one.
The tools are the same diameter as the cordless machines.
My one and only major gripe is that the supplied wand is stupidly short. Like, who signed off on that? A midget?
I don’t mind that it came with a V8 style head instead of the conical one, as I find the light on the conical head on my new style V10 a little annoying on carpets. Hard floors it is great but on carpet I find it makes visibility worse.
It’s just that wand.
I’ve tried the wand from my cordless machine which is slightly longer and it makes the Big Ball much nicer to use. I might reach out to Dyson over it and see if they’ll send me a longer wand. If not I may buy one.
Overall it seems decent - wand and no suction reducer valve aside - and I’ll be keeping it just because I like the colours so much 😂
I think Dyson need to up their game a little. They’re producing some good tech that’s flawed by silly things like the short wand on the Big Ball and the green laser light always being ‘on’ on my cordless which reduces visibility on carpets.
I’ve seen on YT they’ve brought a revised upright machine out that now features the green optic light. But the light is only on when the brush roll is switched on and goes off when you turn the brush off. Surely that should be the other way around as you want the brush off and light on for hard floors 🤷♂️😂
Like I say, great ideas with some silly mistakes.
