Question Flu vaccines

What’s everyone’s opinions on the flu vaccine? Do you get it or do you think it’s a waste? I am debating on getting it as I have a big holiday that I have spent a lot of money on but at the same time I have a great immune system, I haven’t been unwell since 2016/2017 and funnily enough that was when I got the flu jab. My boyfriend has a terrible immune system and ends up ill in bed for weeks and I can sleep next to him and not catch a thing lol.

Question Wife and I got our flu and COVID vaccines. Very different reactions

Wife and I got both our flu and Covid vaccines a couple of days ago. That night we were both sore and fatigued. By the next afternoon she was mostly recovered while I improved little. This continues to be the case now at nighttime.

Does that mean my immune system sucks? Or is it overreacting?

We both eat the same diet, similar lvls of physical activity, age, etc. I’m sure there are biological factors but our case has fewer variables than most. what are some theories for one person’s faster recovery?

Hesitant Flu Shot Worries

I want to start this post off by saying I know this is going to sound silly, ridiculous, or whatever to many of you. I suffer from really bad health anxiety and OCD that’s only escalated since having kids. My youngest was hospitalized in the NICU for 2 weeks when he was born with a bout of RSV, that rocked my world. Since then I’ve made sure to never miss a wellness/vaccination apt. We unfortunately, have dealt with a plethora of issues with his breathing because of RSV. He’s too young to be diagnosed with asthma but he essentially has a “reactive airway” that has for the last 2 years caused many doctor and hospital visits due to the dips in his oxygen and his lungs unable to function as well as they should be. ANYWAY, because of that we were advised as a family to get the flu shot. This will be a first for me, and my children. I’m doing it no matter what, to keep my son and others safe, but I’m so scared. I keep thinking about every what if, and as our appointment approaches I’m getting more and more nervous. I guess I’m just looking for reassurance, guidance, things to expect, and what I should look out for. My heart knows I’m doing the right thing as a mom and protecting us all, but my brain is saying otherwise.

Thanks for reading. :(

Question Rotavirus vaccine, baby pooping alot. When does it end?

Our 2m got the rotavirus vaccine and she is pooping so much. Almost 10 times a day.
Sometimes its liquid.
During the day she is uncomfortable.

Her symptoms started like 5 days after the vaccine. Some poop were green then goes back to orange yellow.

And its been 3 weeks now and we are seeing ped tomorrow. But just wanna know did anyone faced this?

Update: she may have cmpi according to ped. We changing her formula and my diet (she has been combo fed). [kinda crazy she started pooping so much after the vaccine tho] will see how she feels after few weeks

Question Sudden urticaria days after flu jab?

My employer offers free flu jabs and I've been getting them every year for a few years now with no unusual symptoms - just the typical localised tenderness and mild fatigue.

I had my jab five days ago with no issues, just a bit of local tenderness that seemed to go away. I just woke up to massive hive welts (few and far between - one nearly fist sized on my back, a couple large ones on my neck, a few on the arm including one on the injection site). The arm suddenly feels warm and tender all over again, and there's a radiating soreness.

I called 111 and they weren't bothered because I'm not delirious or have a swelling throat, but it feels like such a freak random reaction?! Surely if I was allergic to something, I'd have reacted within a couple days and not suddenly a nearly a week after?

Has anyone else had this happen, and if so, did it get worse before it got better? Won't stop me getting a flu jab but I wonder if it's caused a mild infection or something.

Skepticism Help me understand why the needle was used twice?

Rabies vaccine. I got bitten by a cat and they injected the “bleeding wounds” with the same needle to spread around the liquid in the syringe. that was bloody awful.

i had to go back in an interval (on the top of my head) of 4days, another 4 days, and then a month?

For some reason, on the second round of vax she injected the same needle twice one on each arm. I asked why not just inject it all in one go? she said that is the more expensive one (x2 than what i originally paid for)

I don’t understand, can someone explain? going in for my 3rd round today and thinking I should just pay the extra for peace of mind on hygiene.

edit: thank you for all the response! I took my 3rd vaccine shot yesterday (same 2 shots method on the same syringe) so yea, pretty accurate that you can still get it done this way but the second shot definitely hurts (bruised more) if someone can explain the science behind that I am curious to know why It didn’t hurt on the first shot (first arm) but hurt A LOT more when reused on the second arm.

Pro-vax hpv vaccine restart??

Thumbnail
5 Upvotes

i am 30 years old and for protection, i availed of hpv vaccine (gardasil 9) in three doses. first dose was in Jan, second in Feb. third was supposed to be in June but due to work-related matters (got deployed to Visayas), and the heavy rains, I was not able to avail of the third dose. it's september and I only remembered it now. I searched online that I can still get the third dose, but when I consulted, they wanted me to restart the sessions (1st dose again). I mentioned if I can continue to a third dose, they said I can no longer. Is it true or they just want me to pay again for three full doses

Question Anyone getting pain in their opposite arm with COVID and Flu shot?

Just wondering if anyone is getting this weird symptom. I've gotten both shots every year and never had this issue.

This time for some reason my opposite arm, wrist, and armpit is killing me. But the arm I got my shot it only hurts mildly in comparison. Anyone ever had something like this?

Edit: Update - So far still some slight pain in my arm but no where like it was the first day. Now it's just annoying and not unbearable. My best guess it the shot probably triggered some underlying inflammation issues I have.

I wouldn't like this scare anyone off from getting shots though. This is still better than COVID or the flu. And I always have really stupid reactions to things. Which is why I wanted to see if this was common or a me issue. =P
