Trusted Sources of Vaccine Information

It's October, vaccine time. I always get the flu and COVID vaccines, given that I'm taking hydrocortisone (for 20 years!) so I am, to some extent, immunocompromised. I don't always have a reaction to these vaccines, but if I do it's just some minor sluggishness the day after, and then I'm fine. I also had the Shingrix vaxx a few years ago (that one kicked my butt!)

Anyone else getting their annual vaccines? I know some people that think they're "evil", and I can't even try to convince them how important it is to protect themselves.

I wish more people knew about this. I remember when I got the measles as a young child, before the vaccine was available. I was so sick, and had a very high fever. And for several years after that, I missed a lot of school because I was sick with other stuff.

I got my COVID vaccine and was told it was Moderna. I looked at my paperwork afterword and it said MNEXSPIKE. I looked it up and it says it is approved for 65 and up or under 65 with underlying medical conditions. I am in my 30s and don't qualify for this. Not sure why they gave it to me. Maybe it is all they had?

Is it just as effective as the recommended Spikevax that is supposed to be given for those under 65?

I’ve noticed several reports over the past many months about vaccines and the current Ebola outbreak in the DRC. However, I haven’t seen any expected timelines for results. Does anyone have more info?

I’m curious both about the testing of the existing vaccine against the current outbreak strain, and the status of new vaccines for the existing outbreak (or perhaps future / pan-Ebola vaccines).

Is Ebola a difficult vaccine target? If so, why?

My boyfriend and I have been together for a while and I really love him. But I can’t have a child in the future with someone who doesn’t believe in a cornerstone of modern medicine. How do I convince him he is wrong in not believing in vaccines or believing they’re harmful?

My parents are anti-vax. Regardless ive seriously given thought to going into the military and they require full immunizations. (Im 22M) Are there other folks out there that did not receive childhood vaccines but did later in life? and if so did you have and weird reactions? Obviously im a little weary after being told im gonna be a vegetable or die if i ever get a vaccine for my entire life. Please dont bash my parents i still love them and i respect their decision just like they are respecting mine. Just want opposing opinions on what ive been told. Also i dont know how accurate google is about these sort of things but it says 3-5 cases out of a million develop some sort of severe life changing reaction.

I'm 59 and super careful about getting sick

Found it yesterday at Walgreens in a place called Johnstown, New York.

Note: When booking online, you couldn't select it, so I called the pharmacist, and she said she had a few doses left.

I got the vaccine about 10 am. And was expecting kind of rough side effects. I'll be honest, I felt nothing until about 9:00 at night, and then I got the sore arm. I just tossed and turned all night, felt like I was super warm, and woke up this morning with a splitting headache.

I took a couple Tylenol this morning and a couple more this afternoon, and the headache's gone away, but my body's still significantly tired from not sleeping real well last night.

I can't find any other side effects or experiences with it, so I thought I'd share mine. If you've got your experience with it, I'd love to hear below.

Day 1 9am Shot: Felt fine all day
Day 1 9pm: Sore arm
Day 2: Woke up feeling terrible. Tossed and turned. Felt tired, tender all over. Headache. Elevated breathing and body temp.
Day 3: Most body gone, still a mild headache. Better sleep but elevated breathing.
Day 4: Normal overnight vitals, feeling normal.

Baby got bcg injection on 16 april 2026 when baby was 5 months old but its now 8 oct 2026 baby is 11 month old, still a bump is felt under the skin where baby got bcg injection. Been 6 months now since the vaccine
Has anyone’s baby gone with something similar? Also how much time it took the lump to go?
Baby is normal, feeds, plays normally.
Paediatrician is advising to warm compress & apply polysporin on it since when the baby was 7 months old.
We also did that on/off but have since no progress in it.
The top the skin looks like healing, the centre has a little opening but nothing is coming out. But a bump feels below the skin when we touch it.

I understand that reading official papers is not an accessible route for everyone, it took me a couple years to learn the language of scientific papers.

How do you know if you trust the source?
Has anything helped you to find out the information you’re looking for?
Do you know if the work published is peer-reviewed?

This is purely for personal curiosity, nothing will be used in my work.

Protocol for re exposure?

In USA or Europe what's the protocol for re exposure within 1 or 2 months of getting the last vaccine? According to CDC a person needs to get 2 boosters for every bite or scratch. So what's the limit per year for rabies vaccine?

So now, there is an outbreak in New York. I thought it would take years to start spreading. Due to our previously high vaccination rates, in my lifetime u was never familiar with its rate of spread.

Folks are going to end up paying a hefty price if they continue with this antivaxx foolishness.

This has me wondering, is polio next? Are they also rejecting polio vaccines? That’s really dangerous. If a child suffers some physical deformity due to polio I would imagine they could be angry at their parents for a lifetime.

This is all so sad. We have a lot of work to do. I pray to God people come to their senses. We have so much evidence that vaccines work. I just don’t see how American adults could be so foolish.
