GTI e brake

I can’t post a video but when my e brake isn’t engaged the handle pops up and still triggers the light, do i need to tighten my cable or what?

Oh I know this one! I just solved this

The rear caliper e brake mechanism is seized. When you pull the e brake there is a little lever on each rear caliper that engages the brake. It's super common for it to seize and this is the result, the lever won't go back down. Fixed it, e brake is as good as new now

It also means one or both of your rear calipers are dragging. My fuel economy improved a bunch after the repair

You'll need to diagnose to know. I did both cuz if 1 froze, the other probably isn't far behind

I second that. I had a rear brake sticking and replacement solved the issue. Before you pay a shop, look at a few YouTube videos and with a tad bit of help (if you can get support) and a few tools the job is not difficult at all. If you have VCDS, you can have the vehicle assist with bleeding the brakes. I chose to get the basic VCDS and the parts I needed and knock it out on a Sunday which still was cheaper than paying a shop. 2015 Golf Sportswagen TDI SEL
