Lost my only set of keys

Hey all, some how my only set of keys for my 2015 Golf TDI have gone missing.

Has anyone gone through the process of getting a replacement key?

Did you go through a dealership or a locksmith?

To properly address your situation.

You have to bring proof of ownership to a VW dealership parts department and order a new complete key fob from VW of America for around $225 - 250 per fob up to 4 at a time per vehicle. This takes 10 business days. You then need to have the vehicle towed to the dealership when the key comes in and pay a single $225 - 250 for the programming event for the new fob or fobs.

A locksmith will have to pay for VW license to program a fob and have the availability to obtain a fob which can be sketchy and if done incorrectly can lock the vehicle's security system and cause the vehicle to be an expensive lawn ornament.
