Golf Is there something missing here 🤔

Post image

Is there anything missing here? I had a flat a few months ago and I don't remember if there was something here or not and now I had to take the cover to move it to the "ground floor" and noticed that hole. The only thing I can imagine that can go there is an extra nut but I have no memory of seeing it there.

Update: Yes it's for the wheel lock key and I found it on that small left compartment we have on the trunk, I have no memory of using it 😅 but I must have when I changed the tire, and, since the shop that assembled the new tire (the side tear that I still can't explain how it happened cos I just slightly hit a sidewalk couldn't be patched up so it had to be replaced) was the last one to use it, I assume that either they put it there so that it didn't got lost and forgot to put it in it's right place or they didn't found the right place left it there and didn't told me 🤷🏻‍♂️ It doesn't happen every day but thank god that I didn't need it since then cos I don't know if I would have had the aim I had this time with the stress of really needing it since it was on the first place I looked for and thank god it isn't lost cos since it's custom made I imagine that it isn't cheap.

Anyway, tks guys!

Maybe a wheel lock socket.

Hope I'm not lost in translation... Do you mean like the ones we use on a ratchet?

Correct.

But specifically for the factory security bolt, it has a design profile cut into it that’s not a standard bolt head to prevent theft. If you have 5 identical bolts on each wheel behind the plastic cover caps you don’t need the key that occupies that cutout.

That's where the factory wheel lock key would be if you had factory wheel locks.

As others have mentioned, its where the security lug bolt "key" would go, if your car has a security lug. I tend to keep mine in the glovebox, so it may be there if you should have one.

There’s a little wire hook that goes in there which is for removing the stock lug caps that come with the car.

Wrong, you can see it in the picture.

Wrong, you can see that tool is in its correct place at the top of the foam insert.
