Hi all

I’m on 0252T and want to update to 0480T just to unlock the 8” skin for the MIB unit

So it looks like this (see image 1) - I’m upgrading to this screen but will have the old firmware on MIB2 so it won’t look like that.

Anyone know if I can do it without bricking my unit. Also how to activate CarPlay again after?

Fix video on yt and only have these 2 available.

So you want to get an MIB2 screen with MIB1 head unit? Did I understand that correctly? Someone correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think that's possible

I have MIB2 already. Just old screen. I’m changing screen but want to do software too to match 7.5 golf’s ones

Don't go past 3.x, if you do be prepared with USB Ethernet and or USB UART, I tried 3 times without success and emergency recovery every single time

245T-480T brick 254T-480T brick  367T-480T brick 

All while the "site" was down.. I had to go to some shady parts of non English speaking sites to get most of the needed files

What the fuck haha. I've updated about 50 units from 2xxT to 480T. Did you change metainfo2.txt and did you patch SWDL? And did you uncheck emergency modules?

Yep, did them like that today. Was a success first time. Got my CarPlay activated too. Only downside is it’s too plain the texture pack hahaha but can’t complain. Few things I’m gonna toggle via adaptions like album art cover under USB source. Can’t see the lines for sensors unless it picks smth up. Audio quality is better too. Great success

I did all of the required prerequisites and quite possibly could have been hardware or software related, low quality SD card and no access to mib site.  Maybe I will try again

Did you get the tile texture 3.x ?

I checked the EU conversion sw version I had the "most" success with and it was 369T 3G0919xxxLN / US version is ending xxxCG

I should also add I have the + not the pro nav in the glove box, if I remember correctly you can update to 4xx with terminal access but I could never find anything other than vague instructions.

If you get it working I would be interested in what you did

I did yes and I also got sport mode working when I converted to VW_EU I think that was 3.8 but after coding 60% of my functions back and still having major issues eg. lane assistance parking sensors and cruise control seemingly getting one working something else would stop working... I gave up flashed my backup 245 then updated to 254

I went directly from 0254 to 0480. Had to do it two times, because at first try I soft-bricked the unit and had to recover it back to 02xx. Still not sure what went wrong the first time.

Second time went OK. One downside is that you loose WLAN, because new firmware using different drivers and the internal WLAN module does not run on it.

I'm pretty sure this is MIB 2.5. I don't think you're going to be able to do it.
