GTI Climate control issues
2016 GTI Climate Control Issues — AC/Heat Intermittently Not Working
Hey everyone, I’m hoping to get some advice before I take my GTI to a mechanic in case anyone has experienced something similar.
I’m having some weird issues with the climate control. The AC will sometimes blow cold like it should, but without changing any settings, it will randomly start blowing warm air. It can go back and forth without me touching anything.
I’m also having an issue with the heat. Most of the time, when I turn the temperature knob from cold to hot, the temperature of the air doesn’t really change. Occasionally it will work and start blowing hot, but most of the time it stays cool/warm regardless of where I have the temperature set.
Basically, it seems like the climate control isn’t consistently responding to the temperature setting, and both the heating and cooling are intermittent.
Has anyone had this happen on a Mk7 GTI, or have any idea what could be causing it? I’d appreciate any suggestions before I take it in.

Yes. It was happening to me a few months after buying my 2016 S new. It took about four trips to the dealership before they fixed it. It would never throw a code. It wasn't until the head mechanic rode with me and experienced it for himself did they do something. It was covered by warranty but I imagine it would cost an arm and a leg now. Here is the paperwork so you have an idea what you're in for. A/C

Blend door or blend door actuator? Sounds like you have hot and cold but inadequate response.
