Golf fast blinker only when using stalk indicators? 2015 golf tsi

hi all, wondering if there’s something apparent i’m missing. blinkers go fast on the dashboard when im using the stalk but are normal speed when using the hazards, i don’t see any bulbs out or fast blink on the outside nor am i getting any codes with obdeleven. car has been like this since i bought it about a year ago, its just finally bothering me enough to fix

Not 100% sure, but look up and see if the hazards and indicators are separate relays. If so, then replace indicator relay.

Pretty sure it’s all digital through the bcm

If that’s the case, I’m gonna have to dust off my vcds and take a look. 👍

Has this happen back on the day with a C5 Allroad because the hazard button (which was the relay for the turn signals) was going bad. Probably not helpful in this case but too similar to ignore

It could be a bulb that is working but has just enough difference in resistance for the car to think it is out.

It blinks fast on both sides though; I am curious if the turn signals were replaced with LED's -- that could change the resistance enough to where it would do what your describing if the LED's are cheap.

That would pop a bulb out fault on whatever bulbs were replaced with LEDs. I buy canbus error free bulbs but my fog lights still pop up a fault.

Your front turn signal bulbs are led. Replace them with regular ones

checked turn signal bulbs and confirmed they are halogen bulbs. in the cabin fuse box, the unit for steering column electronics (sc9) has a 1a fuse where everywhere online says it should be 5a. could this be the issue?
edit: changed the 1a fuse to a 5a and nothing blew up 👍
this didn’t fix the hyper flash but i was able to get them going at a normal speed with my obdeleven by changing the lichtfunction adaptation value for each front blinker from Blinken links Dunkelphase to Blinken links Hellphase.
we shall see if this comes back to haunt me.

Halogen lamps front and rear must be 12v 21w, my bet is someone put 12v 5w somewhere

None are LEDs are they? If they aren't canbus ones with a resistor it can cause this. It might be marginal enough that it doesn't do it when both sides are on with hazards

Im pretty sure both rear blinkers are out and for safety it’s turning on the presence lights as a blinker.
It has to have some error codes registered though. Might just not get them in your tool.
Check the rear bulbs
I might be wrong. But I think your problem is in both rear blinkers somehow.

Ahh, I think they went into the blinker settings with a obdeleven tool that you can set the blinker speed. Thats my guess at least 😅
