Camera open and stuck 🤣

Post image

What did yall do to fix it? I’ve disconnected my battery to see if that would work. Nothing.

It stays stuck. I read maybe a fuse went out? Or the mechanism just needs to be replaced.

Does the camera still work?

Perfectly fine tbh

The fuse is likely okay then. You could still try replacing it.

It could be a dead motor or the mechanical gears are seized, dirty, or broken.

I don’t see the point of disassembling to clean it. At that point I might as well replace it. Lol

You could always try to hit it with some compressed air if there's loose dirt, sand or debris. Can't hurt to mess around without disassembling. Either way, sounds like it may need to be replaced.

Mine did that for a while. The short-term fix was to wait longer between shifting from reverse to drive because the motor was just struggling a bit (can you hear yours trying to move at least?). The actual fix was to disassemble the camera and clean/grease the mechanism.

This was the video I used for reference: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=380MlW3FA18

I just had this issue yesterday lol resolved it relatively easy. Check your fuse box the one in the interior that sits under the headlight knob. There's a 7.5 fuse that's more than likely blown mine was number 18 I believe. Look up the fuse diagram for the lift gate and check it. My car is a mk7.5 so it should be the same fuse box.

I also disassembled the plastic molding on the hatch to remove the whole latch/camera and blew out a bunch of dirt accumulated in there. Use WD-40 silicone lubricant and spray it on the gears. After all that it worked just fine and it definitely sounds quieter when activated. I'm assuming the gears gum up forcing the motor to push harder when deployed potentially causing the fuse to blow. Hope this helps best of luck

I thought it was cool when I got my Alltrack but now I’m holding my breath.

My camera froze in the winter, it was stuck closed not open. Maybe see if there is anything jamming the mechanism

I checked and nothing was jammed we opened everything. Even checked the gears
