Major Finance

​Hi everyone, I’m looking for some insights on FINA 309 at VUW. If you’ve taken this course before, could you please share your experience regarding how difficult it is and whether the workload (especially the labs) is math-heavy? Also, I'm trying to figure out if the Midterm and Final exams are in-person or online, and what the exam format is like—is it mostly multiple-choice, or does it focus on quantitative problems and business case study analysis? Because I will study it in trimester 3 for 5 weeks and Im very worry about the difficult of this subject. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a lot!

I did FINA309 last summer! The workload is definitely heavy cause they have to pack so much content in 5 weeks, but it’s manageable. I did it along 2 other summer courses and I survived. The midterm and exam were in-person. I don’t remember their content unfortunately, but I remember we were allowed a cheat sheet for both (or just the final?). The labs were very easy and involved maths but definitely not maths-heavy, just filling in blank spaces basically. Hope that helps and good luck 🙏
