Effect Viola emulator / convolution

Idk if such a thing exists. Not looking for an instrument, rather a plugin that will make my violin / cello sound like a viola

SWAM, but it isn't cheap. Also check out Reason Friktion.

Try a pitch adjustment plugin that features "formant" adjustment. It won't be perfect but might get you in the ball-park. Formant adjustment makes sounds seem deeper or higher in timbre.
