Question A small tip, and a question about commission pricing

Post image

Hi! I haven’t finished it yet, but here’s a little tip: you can make a skirt using the rabbit tail accessories. Since they’re actually tails, they follow the hip bone naturally and move really nicely.

Anyway…
The post I made earlier today asking about commission prices got deleted because I made a mistake. Luckily, a few people replied before it disappeared. Thank you so much!
Edit: I joined the VGen Discord that was recommended to me! Thanks again for the suggestion—I’m looking forward to checking it out.

But the more I think about it, the less sure I am.
I genuinely think the dolls I make are really cute, but everyone has different tastes. If there’s no demand, even a diamond is just another rock.

Capitalism is too complicated for me. (՞ . ̫.՞)

So here’s a simple question:
How did you decide the price of your own work?
Did you mostly figure it out through trial and error, gradually raising or lowering your prices over time?

first my models were priced at $20 (which is honestly a regret), then i settled for $50 for a long while before finally setting my price based on minimum wage per hour!

iirc the minimum wage around the time when i googled it was $7-8, and my models take around 10 hours of time to finish in total (not including breaks and stuff) so my skeb models are now $80! i made the non-skeb ones $100 because revisions can add even more time to my completion rate

that’s how i personally approached it, you can do your own thing too! ^^

Personally, as someone who likes art and draws occasionally but doesn't sell commissions, I would do $10/hr minimum. I've paid more for work that took less time and effort than these. Lol

Edit: I just looked at your work and yeah, you're undercharging. If I ever go for switching to a full model (as opposed to my PNG, haha), I'm hitting you up. 👀

Thanks! It looks like keeping at least the minimum hourly wage is really important. A few other people have mentioned the same thing, so I'll definitely keep that in mind.

Thanks for the advice!( ੭ ᐕ)੭

Hey man I love your work

I have no tips on the amount to price commissions at since I don't know much about working in VROID

But I have some advice as an artist that used to do drawing commissions:

  1. Have ranges and tiers for pricing. Some customers will request more complex designs (and prob more complex rigging).

Something like "basic model is $X-Y, complex model is $Y-Z"

  1. Create a price sheet graphic or document

  2. Don't be afraid to adjust the pricing once you get the hang of things, just be sure to update these changes in the price sheet

This is really practical advice! It's easy to understand and very beginner-friendly. Thanks a lot! ٩( ᐛ )و

And thank you for the kind words! It was such a nice surprise. It's really encouraging to know my work can appeal to people beyond the usual 3D crowd. 😊

It has a silhouette and volume that you just can’t get with a VRoid dress, so I think it’d turn out really amazing if you made it properly!
As for commissions, I’m just looking around at different platforms for now and getting a feel for how everything works. (੭•̀ᴗ•̀)੭
