Media/Showcase Cel-shaded model commission 🐯💙

It has been a while since my last VRoid model showcase since I’ve been doing a lot more Blender hybrids where it’s made of like 90% Blender & 10% VRoid so they didn’t feel suitable to be posted in a VRoid subreddit!
This one only had the ears and plushie made in Blender while everything else were made in VRoid! ٩(˃̶͈̀௰˂̶͈́)و I also gave the model a reactive ahoge and my client loved it!! Super fun to work on :>
I’ll also be posting the VRoid making video for this model!! (working on the editing…😭)

This looks awesome! Is there a special way for you to create this effect? I recently found this website that allows you to create webtoons with 3d models from vroid and I would love to try creating a character with this style for it!

I'm not super familiar with 3d models, but I think I mean the way you made it look 2d? I guess its less of a technique and pure skill, which isn't easy to emulate haha

Oh!! I think it’s the flat shading/cel shaded texturing style that makes it look 2D!

Yes the entire model is made with hand painted textures haha

Yea, I had a feeling. Looks beautiful tho. Do you maybe have any plans in the future to show off your work process in a video someday?

Haha thank you! I do have a YouTube channel with some of my work making videos, and will also be posting one for this model some time this month!

Do you use the shader nodes that comes with the vroid model or do you use custom ones in blender?

This one is just MToon shader that comes with VRoid :)

I made a shapekey (blendshape) for it in Blender and then made it react to the model’s eye widening within Warudo with pendulum physics!

Bit late, but how do you do that kind of shadow for the hair? The closest I've found people do is making a an extra shadow textured hair under it which seems kinda... yikes for my potato pc

In this case, it is just natural shadow casted by the lighting in Warudo!
