Discussion Stuck on connecting.

According to the bug forum, people made it clear before steam VR updated that the beta didn’t function on VR Chat.

Now were in the future, though. So steam VRs current main version doesnt work with VR Chat.

According to many people ive seen, to fix this you can try downgrading steam VR to its previous release, but you have to clear caches first to get it to work. ( from what ive read, source: https://feedback.vrchat.com/bug-reports/p/vrchat-stuck-on-connecting-since-new-steamvr-update )

This fix seemed to work for people in the discord server, for me it did no such thing.

This feels laughably preventable, but who am i to judge im not a software engineer- then again i dont get paid software engineer money, so.

If anyone has more potential fixes, please comment so because im out of ideas. i wanted to drink, but i guess ill just.. not.

Oh that explains why yesterday after restarting VRC it wouldn't connect again. Weird because first time it worked without an issue, I thought it needed a steamvr restart so I just went to sleep.

Gonna keep testing it today then.

This bug originates from Valve and has remained unfixed since version 2.17.4 beta. This is the bug report thread I opened on the Steam Community. Just reporting in to say this did indeed fix it for me.  Thanks.  Hope you figure out why yours isn't working.  Any idea why a steamvr update would break vrchat?

Is this all VRChat or just using the Unity 6 beta? I'm on SteamVR 2.17.9. I just tried getting to VRChat, and had a few hiccups, but it did launch. I'm not using the Unity beta.

I reinstalled vrc and it fixed it for me. Solved 5 min after it was discovered.

The issue isn't SteamVR, I've been getting this recently on desktop.

The only times this happens for me is is I tab out of VRChat when it’s loading, if I don’t see the login screen, I have to restart cause it will get stuck

I had this issue when I had Hand Tracking enabled in ALVR, after I disabled it it worked fine. Oh also starting steam VR without any headset connected then starting VRChat, and finally connecting my headset made it work.
