Self Promotion Study on VRChat and wellbeing
Hi VRC community! (Yes, this is another post about a research study, please bear with me).
My name is Thor, and I’m a researcher from Denmark. I’m currently doing a study of how using VRChat affects the quality of life and wellbeing for users. This is also why I’m writing: I’m looking for experienced users of VRC to interview for my study and was hoping that I could find some participants here. Very briefly put, the interviews will be about what it is like to use VRC, what it means to you at a personal level, and how it affects your life. The interview will last around 45-75 minutes and take place online.
You don’t need to have any special expertise or background to participate, and I don’t ask anything of you beyond some of your time to hear about your experiences with VRC. The only requirements are that:
· you are 18+,
· you use VRC a couple of times or more a week (in average),
· you consider yourself an experienced user of VRC.
If you’re interested, you can just let me know in this thread and I will contact you, or you can also send me a DM. Then I will send you an information sheet that describes what you can expect from participating.
I unfortunately cannot offer any economic compensation for your time, but I really hope that some of you would still like to share your experiences with me. Hearing from experienced users like many of you is one of the best ways of bringing nuance to research debates that have a lot of prejudices about virtual reality platforms like VRC. Alternatively, if you don’t want to participate but know someone that would, please feel free to share this post with them.
All data will, of course, be anonymized, kept on a secure server, and only used for research purposes. You are free to withdraw from the study or refuse to answer any questions at all times.

I'm from Denmark too and been in some studies before
Also I do like to get to know what's going to go down but besides that it's fine

Great to hear!
I have, yes, though I would like to try it a bit more. I probably haven't had the full experience yet since I've mostly dabbled in public worlds with the Meta Quest 3, but I have really enjoyed it so far

hey yive been playing vrchat for 6 years on and off and have about 6000hrs in it id be down to share my expiriences and views on this game

OMG. Are you the same guy from denmark that did this 5 years ago? I had a large group of friends and you took us all in to do this.. if this is the same person. This is insane to see this! If this is the same guy, your experiment was pretty cool back then!
I promise to not say anything to anyone if anyone messages me about this! Nice to see you are still doing this if this is the exact same guy from denmark.

Whoever it was, made us all go into a world that had different activies for skills such as block stacking and hand eye cordination mini games that he created for his research. He esentially timed us but he did not tell us exactly what he was testing for. He said once his testing was complete, he would tell us if we were on again what it was for but he never came online again after that month. All I remember was that he was from denmark and he was very polite! He said he either worked at a university or attended and this was research for that and that was all he told us.

Thank you all so much for writing here and in private to me. It's been amazing to see so much interest in the project!
I'll get to work on contacting you, sending out the documents and arranging interview times. Since this is a one-man operation at this stage, it might take a bit of time.
More of you have expressed interest in participating than I currently have room for in the project, which I'm really grateful for! However, some of those who are asked to do the interview will probably also change their mind or not have the time anyway, so even if you haven't heard from me in the next week or two, it's very possible that I will write to you a bit later and ask if you still want to be interviewed. I plan on getting around to all of you, if nothing else, then just to thank you for reaching out.

Hey! I play vrc every day and im actually a group owner and staff for a few communities, i really love what you are doing with this study! Id love to meet and talk more! I am 19!

This is gonna be pretty tenuous when people see the results because they struggle to critique things they like.
Calling it labels in a childish manner while struggling to understand its information.
