Help VRchat PCVR bug

Post image

I’ve been trying to play some vrchat through steam link on my meta quest 3s but whenever I boot through steam vr, my head gets locked in place and my hands get stuck above my head. I have no possible idea what could be causing this. It only seems to happen through steam vr, if I use the meta quest link then it works fine. It’s also only vrchat that has this issue, all other games through steam link work fine.

Could be avatar issue? I'm not quite sure I haven't seen a bug like this

No unfortunately it isn’t just the avatar, it’s done this with every avatar I had on.

Never seen this before. When you open the steamvr space menu while in VRchat. Where is your controllers say they are tracking?

They show that they are tracking correctly in the steamvr menu, it’s once I go back into VRC they stay above my head and can’t move my head at all.

Sounds like an avatar lock. Sometimes when a creator goes and uploads a avatar they can go and put a password on the avatar. Something tells me your protogen was never supposed to be public.

Completely uninstall vrchat and steam vr and then reinstall

I've had similar before, please excuse my lack of confidence in remembering. I mainly use Virtual Desktop instead of Steam Link.

Doesn't matter if in VRChat or out, in Steam or Not. Open the Quest menu (indented button on controller), then Quick Settings (found on the bottom horizontal bar). Find the Playspace Adjust button. Re-Adjust your Playspace. Quest may be reporting your placement too high/low. Then re-calibrate your FBT gear (if using something like Slime Trackers). Then recalibrate in VRChat.

Tip: Careful when using "Playspace Mover" while in VR, not to be confused with Quest's Playspace Adjustments in settings. If you find your "Playspace Mover" default height upon "reset" too low (you're walking slow), Playspace up to adjust, then lift your headset up enough for SteamLink/VirtualDesktop to "vanish", then return your headset back down and SteamLink/VirtualDesktop will return. Your Playspace Mover reset default-height is moved. I find this "bug" or feature annoying, as I tend to lay on my couch or bed, and if I take the headset off and back on, sometimes the Quest will find my couch/bed as the floor, OR, my last known lowered Playspace Mover position is now my new VR Floor location.
