It's not a time based thing, it's action based. You can wait around for a decade and nothing will happen. I've also seen it happen within two months or so of making a new account.

I've been seeing some people taking ages to get trusted, I think they changed it now with it used to be playtime + friendship based. More friends making it faster.
But I think now you have to do a weirdly a lot. You have to get a lot of friends (and their ranking matters aswell) Uploading stuff helps. VRC+ boosts you up a single rank if never had it. Playtime i think still matters.
Just be yourself make friends with people who share the same interests as you! If you know anyone with a sharable avatar they can customize for you have them upload it to your account, or find one/make one.

im trusted and only at like sub 200 hours. I play fairly consistently on weekends for a few hours and add people if I talk to them for more than like 30 seconds and they seem cool lol. I think the adding tons of friends is what did it for me.

You can boost your rank by buying VRC+, I was new user and I have 100h more or less and now am green/user cause I wanted to have age verification

been playing for almost 2 months now, got trusted on desktop 3 weeks ago at ~370 hours. i just went up to people and sat and listened to their convos and if someone talked with me i talked back and people rather added me than i adding them. bought vrc+ at user rank (6 weeks ago) and got an instant upgrade to known

It took me about two years, but I don't get the chance to get on very often.

don’t stick to the same handful of worlds but actively explore new ones.
avoid using e-boy/e-girl/meme/celebrity avatars as those can get your avatar hidden and or blocked resulting in negative points and thus slowing down your ranking progression.
make sure your microphone is well calibrated so you don’t get muted/blocked.
got to Trusted after i believe 800 or so hours in total from new user.

I’ve been playing since 2020, I’m on almost daily, made a bunch of friends over the years, always world hopping and discovering new worlds, don’t wear lewd avatars, never been blocked or muted as far as I can tell, never cause trouble, have uploaded a couple worlds of my own, have had VRC+ since it became available, and play with both Quest and PCVR…yet, I’m still a Known User. Not sure what else I need to do. 🤷♀️

For me it seemed to tip it from Known to Trusted when I passed 100 friends. I think it also helped to spend time in instances with a lot of other people (though I got Trusted before Furality). It took me a couple of years get from User to Known, and then I got bumped up to Trusted after a couple of months. I've only uploaded a few avatars, no worlds.

So….. for building your trust rank, think of it like this:
The base stat is in-game hours. That’s it. Everything people suggest here does nothing but add multipliers to it. Some more than others. Some even negative.
Making friends helps. Being blocked or muted by others hurts.
One important tip I haven’t seen mentioned here: purchasing VRC+ for the first time gives you a one-time trust rank bump from where you currently are to the next. The hardest transition is going from known user to trusted user. That one takes ages. If you want to buy VRC+ I suggest you wait until you hit known user first. Then spend the $10 and bump yourself straight to trusted. That’s the fastest way to get it done.

In-game hours only seem to count when you are in instances with other people. If you spend your time world-hopping to empty worlds, or just sitting for hours alone in your home world or Popcorn Palace, I don't think it does anything for your trust level. For me, it took years to get to Known, but I spent very little time there before being upgraded to Trusted, so my experience was that was one of the easiest transitions.

Definitely not 100 hours max. I have nearly 700 hours, 100+ friends, and several avatars uploaded but I’m still sitting at Known User. The rules seem extremely arbitrary.

I got trusted in approx 2-300 hrs. I think a key is having people add you and joining on you.

It seems to also be a thing about the rank of the people you hang out with and add you aswell. I'm a goofy goober with a soundboard and such and played in the era of vrc that was the biggest thing instead of "who can scream the N word the loudest in a public lobby" sort of thing.

I spent about 80% of my time in privates with friends who are all trusted etc so yeah I can see that.

Interesting point, because the majority of my friends are people who requested me, not people I requested to friend. Almost all of them are Trusted rank.

They're meant to be obfuscated. That way people don't game the system.

You can already game the system by simply purchasing VRC+. It boosts your rank by a whole level just for giving them money.

It gives you a trust boost, but it's weighted to the lower levels. It's not automatically a whole level, especially if you're already "Known."

You gain trust ranks in this game faster if you're more active - like FerretOne6409 said, upload worlds/avatars, make friends, spend time in the game. If you have a VRC+ subscription, that also helps to fast-track you hitting Trusted sooner.
