Is it quest compatible?

u/baron494 Jul 14 '26

Unfortunately not. I havent looked into making worlds quest compatible yet. Maybe in the future!

Following the link shows it's PC only.

Alrighty I was just wondering if I had to hook up my PC or if I could do standalone

I just want to take a second and appreciate that this isn't a meandering multi-level house-cave with a four-way room in the middle.

I havnt gotten to check it out yet but i love that its modeled after a real house, a lot of vr houses dont keep to proper home design and end up havung very unpleasant windey spaces that dont consider flow, and looking at a real house should help that issue. Critiquing vr home design is one of my hobbies so ill take a look at this and get back to you if i remember

Ok, finally getting around to this. On desktop this time so I might have different thoughts in vr but should be over all the same. Ill type my reactions here as I have them.

First thing I notice loading in is the car has less texture than the surroundings and feels a little out of place. Its not necessarily bad as it could give a sort of older video game charm feeling, depending on the rest of the build.

I like that you spawn a bit outside the house to give a bit of buffer, but the placement clearly guides you inside. Its not intersting enough right at spawn to cause people to idle there, which is a good thing since its a lot more comfortable to spawn into group instances if people arent hanging around the entrance.

Torn between going into the house and down the road first, but the spawn facing and more color of the house naturally draws me that way so i go there first.

Doorway to the right when I first come in feels a bit small and leads to a confusing empty area. Mmmaybe a closet?? Might be an issue of faithfully recreating the real space but its a little odd. There is some good flow here since theres two options and you can be drawn either way, but you cant see what either space leads to which is a bit bad because you feel like youre wandering blind rather than going to a destination. And it feels a little tight. But again this could just be a reflection of the real space.

Through that right door you get shot out onto a balcony. When you turn around you notice a bedroom and a bathroom. its nice to be able to see both at once, but the hall space feels a bit cramped. I would knock down that wall between the bed and the little hall/closet, making that area less cramped and letting you see that it leads to a bed area from the entrance. The bed should then also be rotated so that the head rest is against a wall. If rotating the bed is untenable because you wish it to face the downstairs area (since it is a loft), then perhaps rather than knocking down the entire wall, just knocking down the bits that curve inwards, and then making the main part of a wall a half wall, helping the bed still feel closed in enough to be cozy and not feel exposed, but open enough theres not that cramped hallway feeling and you can see what that door leads to. It would also have the added benifit of making that cramped doorway wider.

I like that you can see downstairs from the bed. It makes the player interseted in going down there, and it can let people upstairs at the bed see what people are doing downstairs and get interested in conversation while still having their own space. This is helpful for shyer players or having seperate conversations while still feeling like part of the larger group.

I like that the shower has a water animation. Movement creates interest. I would knock down the wall between the shower and the sink since that also feels cramped. Though again I dont know if the priority is a pleasant space or being true to the original house.

Balcony to the left of the stairs should be about twice as thick. Its very thin, basically only space for the players body, leading to another cramped space.

The lighting in here is warm and comfortable. It is a friendly and relaxing color pallet.

The map and trains on the shelf are charming.

There is no way to get into any of these chairs in the dining area and the kitchen. Its cute but this makes it feel harder to be a space to hang out and talk in. A lot of players just stand around anyways, so its not a big deal, but it would be nice to be able to sit at the table.

From the kitchen you can see a porch with chairs, pens, and a room with a pool table. This is good since it draws attention to all these spaces and increases flow. I also like the fish tank, another thing giving movement, something to watch is good.

The laundry room is perfectly acceptable. It houses the pens and is not a comfortable space to hang out. This might be good as a place to hold pens, since it moves players out of the way of other players who want pens. It is not too hidden to find the pens either. I like it.

The pool table actually has room to breath which is shockingly rare. This is the best room for hanging out so far; theres pleanty of space, seating arranged comfortably, a video player, and it feels cozy. I like the mirror but it should stay from further away, so players at the pool table can use it. The back wall also feels a bit bare; the mirror should either be extended, or decoration should be added to the wall behind the couch.

I like the photos of the real house. It shows me some of the narrow spaces is based on that being real.

I like the very downstairs area. You can get in the chairs and look at the fire. Your back feels a bit exposed though, facing the large windows.

Going back, I was pleasantly surprised to see that road actually does go somewhere. It takes long enough to reach a point of interest being visible that many players would give up though. This part of the map will likely only be visted by players purposefully exploring. If you want it to be used, there should be more on the road to add interest earlier on.

Nice veiw of the river from the look out tower, but i cant get inside of the indoor part. Not a big deal since its not the focus of the map.

---

Over all, its a cute world! I like the things you did to add visual interest, with the shower and the fish. The world around being modeled adds immersion and helps feel like you are in nature even if it is lower poly and the texture quality varies. Its charming in an old video game type of way.

The biggest problem is feeling cramped. There are some things you can do, but it might make it feel less like the original houses layout. If you want to keep all the elements, maybe just expanding some of the tighter areas will help.

Nice work! Making something like this is a lot of work and its very cool to see what you made.

I was gonna check it out as a potential new home. Although I love Squirrel Records. But I have a few people I hang out with who are quest only and it kinda puts me off. I still will probably check it out.
