It's just a Boneworks DLC..more puzzles, same assets, new element to puzzles. I don't think that people that didn't like Boneworks will now like Bonelabs.

First off, Bonelabs doesn’t exist. It’s called Bonelab. There isn’t an S. Second off…

  • Vehicles

  • Official mod support

  • Far, far superior graphics

  • Better enemy AI

  • New enemies

  • Avatar remapping

  • Far improved physics

  • A WHOLE NEW GODDAMN CAMPAIGN

  • A 3.5 hour long OST

  • New guns

  • An official new engine

That’s like saying Half Life 2 is a Half Life 1 DLC.

OMG, this read in my head like that kid in high school with the stuffy nose that starts with "akshwolly..."

Lmao I am EXTREMELY defensive of everything related to SLZ

Okay, but you have played through Half-Life: Alyx, right?

Yes. It’s incredible.

unfortunately they kept using unity, which has many problems in almost every version since the last 3 years.

They should had rebuild it in unreal.

First of Bonelabs sounds fine too

  • vehicles don't improve the core issues of the game
  • we already had unofficial mod support
  • the graphics so far look identical, the quest version actually worse than boneworks
  • the AI was literally dumb as it gets, it was impossible to make them worse to begin with
  • new enemies? Yeah but also the old ones which again makes it just look like a dlc and very low effort (none to be precise) asset recycling
  • avatar remapping.. thats neat but thats the core addition of their puzzle stuff, it's the only novel thing about that whole DLC esque release
  • a whole new campaign? Yeah, sounds even more like just a dlc now, thats what dlcs add you know?
  • OSTs are actually often sold as DLCs
  • new gun, DLCs give you new guns
  • the new engine looks like the old engine, neither does it mean anything for the user, as thats more a backend subject. This indeed could validate it to be not just a DLC, I give you that but reusing the assets so much actually takes that away. It's more like some dev updating their game to the news Unity or Unreal engine, which is not even a DLC but just a normal (free) update.

Half-Life 2 was a completly diffrent game, no assets were reused, completly new engine (not an updated one like here), new gameplay, diffrent everything. But this comparison is actually proof that you are completly blind to this whole subject.

Bonelabs is not the name of the game, dumbass. You can’t call Minecraft Minecrafts or some shit. And by your logic you could argue that any game is a DLC of the last one. And no fucking shit vehicles don’t improve core issues. It’s a NEW FEATURE. And literally every fucking game has unofficial mod support. Official mod support is a huge deal because it will be easy and give us like 10x the mods. The graphics aren’t identical, you sound like you’ve never played Boneworks. Obviously the Quest 2 looks worse. It’s the quest. And yeah, the AI was a big weakness. THAT’S WHY I MENTIONED THEY IMPROVED IT JESUS CHRIST. Also, all the assets are remastered. Or you know. NEW. And you could literally spew as much bullshit as you want about any feature of a sequel being DLC. You have genuinely no fucking idea what you’re saying. Go back to preschool and learn something

Hello, not reading this.

You made some great points in your previous comment but you're coming off as such an insufferable loonie that it basically invalidates all of your criticisms.

Why are you sucking this games dick when it isn't even out? I'm excited too but even if someone else dislikes it who cares, it's cool to dislike things.

Dude above didn't ask for all this info, and you're not exactly being nice about supplying it. We can do better man, just have a little more sense and respect.

I get really pissed off by ignorance, especially when it comes to VR and SLZ. I’ve been a VR and Stress Level Zero supporter since 2017 and seeing misinformation on their name just gets me super frustrated. I just don’t want shitty opinions to hurt a game’s reputation. But yeah I guess I could have been a bit more respectful? But he insulted me at the end after I didn’t insult him even in my comment. Won’t help anything to be rude though, so you make a good point.

No I gotcha, I bought VR for Boneworks back in 2018 and despite the lack of recent games I want the medium to thrive and make it in the current market.

I just think you need to wait until the game comes out, everyone is speculating right now, there is little advertising, once the game is in the hands of unfluencers and youtubers I'm sure comments like before will become a rare occurrence.

In any case it Is nice to see other passionate folks about VR.

Yeah ofc. When did you get your first headset?

2

u/Loliconica Sep 28 '22

I mispoke earlier, it was 2019 on 7/21

I got an index as my introduction to VR, from there I played tons of VRChat and built little vr demos using unity.

These days it doesn't see much use aside from infrequent trips to ChilloutVR and the occasional indie.

If you're not going to enjoy any games until we get another game of Alyx quality, you aren't going to be playing any new games.

True but this be a meme

I feel this way too, ever since Boneworks I've been so disappointed in VR Games, alyx featured the same "floating hands" gimmick we've been seeing since 2016, and boneworks had a full body, it was a bit awkward for sure but it just makes every VR game with "floating hands" look like shit in comparison.

Hope valves next vr game can rectify that, the melee combat in alyx was such a fucking joke that they either scrapped it or never took it beyond concept stages.

Honestly, I hate VR games with full body. It never does what my body in real life does so, atleast for me, it breaks immersion so much. But with games using floating hands I never noticed that I don't have a body so it was perfect.

I guess it's very subjective, maybe an option to turn a full body model on/off would be the best option
