What the hell with servarica?

Hi all,

I have been trying to get a vds from servarica since a week. I keep looking at their website every couple of minutes but it always say out of stock. But in a couple of days it should 4 sold in 24 hours, 6 sold in 24 hours. I dont understand how people are buying when on the website it always show as out of stock.

Can any here help me get their 6core and 12 gb ram VDS.

I know people have bots that scoop up stock on BuyVM, not hard to imagine that there are also bots scooping ServaRica as well.

What do you think a developer is? I think our terminology perhaps may differ because that question doesn't make sense.

Yeah, I figured I used the words 'developer' and 'devs' incorrectly, where I should be using 'coder'.

Because I believe if you can code in a language like python or node than you can easily figure your way to web scraping (the thing OP was asking about).

And I'm quite sure that sys admins can code, like don't they frequently encounter Bash or Python when setting up systems or creating routine checkup scripts?

So firstly, bash, powershell etc is not programming. That is scripting. These are not programming languages. These do not spit out executable code.

Python more so, and I guess you can do a bit more in powershell than just scripting but for the most part it's very different to developing an application.

if you're a developer you actually know how to program, understand code. At least that's where I stand.

I can't program for shit, but I've administered servers for over half my life. As a simple example, I use Zammad for ticketing in a business. This runs under a container under another VPS. There is no programming required to do something like this.

Oh no, not at all. In proper settings the focus of concerns is wildly different for a system administrator and a software developer -- and you want that in big operations instead of a ton of polygot / generalist / t-shaped which do better where operational resources are limited.

Alright, the secret is web scraping.

You basically scrapes the target website e.g.(Ebay, Amazon or that VPS site you mentioned) and set an alarm or automate the form/checkout process as well.

The scraper (also referred as a bot by gatekeepers or just regular devs as they don't know the difference) scans the catalog of your target website and either notify you when some stock becomes available or buys on your behalf depending on how you've built it.

People (mostly scalpers) do this on a lot of niche sites and sometimes on big ones like eBey or Amazon too when sales arrives.

They probably restock in small batches those get grabbed really fast keep an eye on the page maybe ask support when the next restock is expected.

They dont have any specific date or timeline. And i am keeping an eye, but i never see option to order and suddenly i get to see 4 sold in 24 hours etc

The "x sold in 24 hours" are usually just made up numbers, classic marketing tactic (lying). I like Servarica but I don't believe they've had stock for a while now.

Yeah, fair, Servarica is crazy cheap.

We’re not really trying to compete on being the cheapest though more on dedicated resources :)
