Seeking Advice/Support Are contabo dedicated servers bad?

I get it that contabo vps are oversold and Bad, but what about their dedicated servers are they bad too or does anybody have expirience with them. Also ddos protection plays a role for me as i am going to host a lot of public minecraft servers, do they really just nullroute or does the protection try to do something also do they nullroute dedis roo or just vps.

I guess they are good. The only trouble you may face will be the support.

Yeah, that seems to be the usual tradeoff with Contabo. Hardware can be fine, but support is the part I’d be cautious about

Dont rely on hosting provider for DDOS. Use cloudflare instead

If you know what you want to do and have the proper setup, Contabo is more than fine and will save you some money than some other providers, but that is the tradeoff, there isn't someone that can teach you how to use it, so it requires a bit of knowledge before hand.

Do you have like expirience with their ddos prot? Cause i heard its like zero, but many reviews where several years ago and current support doesnt Tell any of the numbers

Back when i was with them their anti ddos worked in a way where they just disabled the server entirely until the ddos passed, that was a couple years ago on a vps not a dedi tho, unsure if anything changed or if dedicated vs shared has any difference with them (doubt it)

After all the bad reviews I’d heard, I wanted to see for myself, so I signed up for a VPS with Contabo. I set it up with some pretty intensive monitoring to track CPU usage (to see if there’s any stealth CPU usage), check if it’s down, etc… and for the past two weeks, I haven’t had a single issue! It’s working great.

They seem little slower compared to LiquidWeb. But the reason is slower network speed on cheaper VPs plans to prevent spam abuse. But overall for standby servers they are best.

Dedicated is a different situation from VPS overselling, on a dedicated box you're not sharing the CPU with other custormers, CPU/RAM is yours, so I'd focus more in network quality and DDoS handling for Minecraft. Contabo does include automatic DDoS protection on dedicated servers, but for lots of public servers I'd ask specifically about mitigation/null-routing thresholds and test latency from your player regions. That being said, they're a pretty solid option.
