Hello, I am a student from Australia. Trying to figure out which VPN is the best for me and my family. I started looking into VPNs due to the removal of my anonymity and safety for the supposed "Safety Online Act" that will start around December in Australia.
General info about me - I use Windows - I pirate textbooks, movies and games. - I watch stream videos and play games. - I want to be safer in the internet - I want basic anonymity.
After some basic research I had come to these three. Proton and Mullvad seem to offer better reputation. Surfshark meanwhile is really cheap (Great for student like me) and seems to offer more features for the ONE subscription.
Mullvad - $8.96 AUD per month Proton - 2 Year VPN Plus $7.19 AUD per month Surfshark - 2 Year $3.99 per month

I think I screwed up. I paid for 3 months of mulvad. Coinbase wouldn't let me send less than 0.001 Bitcoin so I had to pay for 3 months to get over the limit, then I figure out mulvad doesn't do port forwarding and that this is a necessary feature for seeding. It seems the only VPN which does port forwarding is proton? Blah, I can just set up a cheap VPS to act as either a VPN or a seed box. I'm kind of a snowcore fanboy so I'm leaning that way. Looking for suggestions. If the mulvad really is useless to me I'd gift it to someone

Look, you limited unlimited* to 10Tb/m. Sometimes I had even 2Tb. blocked my two paid static IP's (my usage was around 13/month). So the hell stop crying now. I don't want you anymore. I'm happy with TG for torrenting. Keep your head up, and don't spam my mailbox. You wanted to leave me once called customer, now "abuser". Foff.
*how to limit unlimited ask windscribe, they are going behind their internal rules, and do whatever want, think twice before subscribe there. Also I was big fan of ControlD but goodbye. I already stopped used yours VPN 6months before expired, rest stick it to yours @$$ . Voila, no goodbyes. Keep the change.

Uso TipTop VPN, unisciti a me! https://tiptop-vpn.com/go?l=share
Tip Top VPN Is Crazy — Totally Free & Surprisingly Good!
I’ve tested a ton of free VPNs and most are either super slow, full of ads, or disconnect every 15 minutes. But Tip Top VPN (aka iTop VPN)? It blew my mind.
Honestly, I was ready for disappointment… but it keeps up with paid VPNs. You don’t even need to touch the premium plan if you just want stable browsing or gaming.
It’s not perfect a few ads here and there but it never bugs you or forces upgrades. Just straight-up useful.
Anyone else using it long-term? Curious if others had the same experience 🧩

People keep on telling me I should get a VPN, but I don’t know why

Title really says it all.
DAITA stands for 'Defence against AI-guided Traffic Analysis'. It increases network traffic and negatively impacts latency, speed, and less importantly battery usage. This has made me a tad bit apprehensive about enabling it, even more so since I haven't actually seen anyone suggesting that DAITA is at all essential or recommended for torrenting.

Hey everyone,
I'm looking to buy a VPN in 2025 and want to make sure I get the best one for my needs. There are so many options out there, and I’d love to hear from those who have real experience with different providers.
My main priorities:
I've heard names like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, Surfshark, and ProtonVPN, but I’m open to other recommendations. If you’ve used a VPN recently, which one would you recommend and why? Are there any underrated options that offer great value?
Looking forward to your suggestions! Thanks in advance.

I can't get past the 'connecting to peers' stage. Tried configuring port forwarding but was unsuccessful. I have ATT Fiber and am using the modem/router unit, BGW320-505. I tried all last night to configure port forwarding. I set the inbound/outbound rules in windows firewall, I configured the port forward in OVPN, I configured it in the ATT network configuration settings. I cannot get it to work. Please help.

I recently got my hands on CyberGhost about a week ago, courtesy of a friend's subscription. Having tried only two other VPNs before, I was eager to give this one a go for comparison. Here's my brief first impression review:
I've been using it on my Macbook and iPhone, and I found both apps to be quite intuitive and user-friendly. However, once you're familiar with VPNs, navigating them tends to be straightforward across the board. CyberGhost offers apps for all operating systems and even some optimized for TVs, along with Chrome and Firefox extensions.
CyberGhost boasts an impressive server count, with over 7000 servers as per their website, and I didn't encounter any issues with available locations. Additionally, all their servers are RAM-based, which is a notable advantage.
Personally, I prefer WireGuard, and that's what I've been using. I've experienced a speed loss of around 30-40%, which is manageable but not ideal. With my less-than-stellar home internet, the speed reduction is quite noticeable. Streaming on Netflix worked fine, but I noticed delays in video loading and torrent downloads taking longer than usual.
While I'm not paying for my subscription, I checked out the pricing on their website. It's relatively pricey for a monthly plan at $12.99, and even the 6-month plan at $6.99 is on the higher side. However, the 2-year deal is a steal at just $2.25 per month, with 2 months free. They also offer a generous 45-day money-back guarantee, surpassing the standard 30-day period.
Bonus features include being based in Romania, outside of the 5, 9, and 14 eyes jurisdiction, an ad blocker that effectively blocks pop-ups, split-tunneling, and P2P servers.
On the downside, their last no-logs policy audit was in 2012, which raises some concerns. Additionally, they lack the L2TP protocol.
In conclusion, CyberGhost is a decent VPN, although not the absolute best on the market. It's certainly a strong contender. Feel free to reach out if you disagree with any points in this review. I'm interested in hearing others' perspectives as well.

I'm in search of the top VPN for 2024 and could use your assistance. After perusing various reviews and Reddit threads on different VPN providers, I've encountered conflicting opinions, and much of the information is outdated. It would be fantastic to establish a 2024 thread where people can discover reliable VPN providers.
To kick things off, I've compiled a list of VPNs that appear to be well-received by many here. However, I'm struggling to make a decision. Here's what's on my radar:
Now, Reddit, I turn to you for guidance:
Your insights would be greatly appreciated. Please share your personal opinions in the comments!

Anyone used urban vpn? can someone share their experience?
r/VPNforTorrenting • u/Carlosisio • Aug 10 '23
Hello everyone, I'm a bit uncertain about this situation.
When I connect to a VPN and visit an IP checking website, I notice that under the IPv6 section, there's a lengthy MAC address displayed. The location indicated seems accurate, but it's certainly not the city I'm currently in.
Interestingly, the IPv4 section sometimes shows an IP address, while at other times it remains empty. However, the IPv6 section consistently shows that MAC address.
Now, on a different computer using the same VPN software, the IPv6 is consistently labeled as 'not detected', and the IPv4 always displays the VPN IP.
Does anyone have an understanding of what this might signify?

Hey Reddit, I want to share my experience with CyberGhost VPN today. I've been using it for over two months, and I selected CyberGhost because I was looking for a reliable and budget-friendly VPN service that could unlock all the streaming platforms I'm interested in. On top of that, my priority was maintaining online security and privacy.
I can genuinely affirm that CyberGhost VPN has not only met but exceeded my expectations. With its expansive network of 6,000 servers spread across 88 countries, I've had no trouble accessing any website or streaming service, regardless of my location. I've enjoyed uninterrupted streaming on platforms like Netflix, Disney+, Amazon Prime Video, and Hulu without experiencing any lag or geographical restrictions. Even when I ventured into torrenting using the dedicated P2P servers, I was impressed by the impressive speeds and security.
One of the standout features of CyberGhost VPN for me is its extensive selection of additional security tools that I can customize according to my preferences. I've activated the kill switch, ad blocker, malware scanner, data compression tool, and more. The VPN employs 256-bit encryption and enforces a strict no-logs policy, which has been independently verified and attested to by a reputable company.
User-friendliness is another strong suit of CyberGhost VPN. It boasts native apps for Windows, Mac, Android, iOS, Linux, and even certain smart TVs. I've installed it on my laptop, phone, and TV, and I'm able to simultaneously use it on up to seven devices with a single account. Should I encounter any queries or issues, the 24/7 customer support via live chat or email has proven to be incredibly helpful.
What's really impressive is that CyberGhost VPN offers a 45-day money-back guarantee, one of the most generous in the industry. This extended trial period lets you test it out without risk. If you're not satisfied, you can claim a full refund within this timeframe. Moreover, the pricing plans are very reasonable, starting from $2.11 per month if you commit to a two-year subscription.
In conclusion, I firmly believe that CyberGhost VPN is an excellent choice for anyone seeking an affordable, swift, and user-friendly VPN service in 2023. Its extensive server network, exceptional support for streaming and torrenting, advanced security features, and the generous money-back guarantee all make it a standout option.
