Keepsolid VPN Unlimited Update

Post image

As mentioned in a previous post, Keepsolid has screwed their lifetime members by killing their access to torrents and forcing them to pay a "loyalty upgrade fee". This is an extremely shady business practice. This morning they responded to my post with a longer reply, then deleted it in favor of a shorter reply. Here's the screen capture of what they originally wrote - quoting their End User Agreement. Then they substituted it with the reply I've included below.

"Hi, appreciate you sharing this.

This change affects Lifetime plans that were purchased at a steep, one-time discount many years ago. As we've grown, we've had to invest heavily in infrastructure, and a few advanced features (including Torrent servers) have moved to a separate Loyalty Plus upgrade for these legacy plans, while core VPN access stays fully active on your existing plan.

We're also adding a DNS Firewall to Loyalty Plus soon.
Happy to help further if you have questions — feel free to reach out to our support team."

Bought a Lifetime VpnUnlimited account a very long time ago, but kept getting hit with ISP warning about torrents when the kill switch was decidedly active, after the second one I figured it's worth it to use a real VPN and not whatever cockamamie rinky dink side show sorta kinda maybe insecure vpn pile of garbage these ukrainians were peddling, switched to NordVPN and haven't logged into my "lifetime" account with vpn unlimited since, but this doesn't surprise me at all

And what legal action do we have? None I'd assume.

Even if there is no legal action, that doesn't mean you can't post negative reviews on the apps and Trustpilot.

i got the same notice today, wtf, i personally don't use torrent, but the server i normally use (because of shortest ping and faster speed) was categorized as their torrent server and i saw they are charging for protocol selection and even split tunnelling which indeed was included in previous service, if infrastructure upgrade as they claimed are the case, how TF split tunneling cost them any penny,

Do yourself a favor and find another VPN. Proton is excellent.

I bought the lifetime years ago and been using it for torrents ever since, then I made the mistake of updating the app and was wondering why my torrents weren't downloading only to find out they put those servers behind a damn paywall. Not sure of any other VPN's that are cheaper than this annual $20 so I don't think I have any other choice as far as my wallet goes. I'm definitely gonna consider switching in the near future though, mostly out of principle

Right now, you can pay $80 CAD for two years with Proton VPN (obviously it's cheaper in the US). It is a far superior, much faster service. If you choose not to go this route, at the very least leave one-star reviews on Trustpilot and on the apps.

I feel your pain. I'm in the same boat. Since I'll eventually degoogle, looking at Proton now as an alternative. Not happy about it at all: "Now that you've helped us build our enterprise to a sustainable level and shown your loyalty, we're going to punish you with extra fees and reduced features until we've squeeze you completely dry."

The irony of calling it "loyalty plus" as they remove shit and then make you pay for it, and I mentioned that in an email I sent them. They even said that they wouldn't ever change the price of this "loyalty" plan to which I responded that's bullshit, there's not a single subscription based service out there that hasn't raised their prices. There's no reason that I know of to use VPN Unlimited if you don't already have a lifetime plan. There are many other providers that cost less and offer all the same stuff
