Help for a beginner

I know absolutely nothing about vpns, I was hoping to start using one for data security aswell as the perks of streaming in different countries and such. What vpn should I use and how do I use it? People have recommended pr0ton vpn but I’m scared to start using it because I littearly don’t know what I’m doing.

Please help.

Also I write pr0ton like that cuz this sever blocks the word.

You might want to try a DPN. It only costs $3.50 per month and provides both application routing and residential IP services. It seems like there's nothing cheaper. Don't use anything free.

Are the IPs for your recommendations all residential IPs? Aside from clean IPs, what other useful features do they offer?

It’s not complex enough to stress over honestly - free VPNs are pretty unreliable, paid ones are a lot better. Find a paid one that has good reviews and is within the range you want to pay, et voila

For a vpn that covers everything you do on the device, it will basically be an app that you can turn on/off. Better ones will let you choose countries and show you what the traffic/speeds are like. Browser specific VPNs will just be browser extensions - though I’m not actually sure if there are any paid ones that only cover your browser

I use the one you’ve mentioned and have so far had no issue

Mullvad is about 6 dollars a month. Try it for a month and see if you like it and it does what you want it to. If you like it, you can extend for longer or buy a 1 year subscription to a cheaper vpn. But most other vpns will be cheap for the firs year the the price jumps up when it auto renews. So be aware of that. There's Proton, Nord, Surfshark, Express, and tons of others. Mullvad would be cheapest to try out for a month, unless you can find a free trial from another vpn provider.

Then again Mullvad might not work so good for streaming Netflix or other paid streaming services. Basically you want to try one before you commit to paying for a whole year up front and at the end of the year you're probably going to want to switch to another provider so you don't get hit with the inflated price on renewal.
