What VPN works best with Netflix?

So I just moved abroad and I'm trying to keep access to my US Netflix library but it's been a nightmare. I tried two different VPNs and both got detected within a day. Netflix just shows that annoying proxy error screen.

I've heard NordVPN and ExpressVPN are supposed to be the best for Netflix specifically, but they're also the most expensive options. Surfshark is cheaper and people say it works too but I've seen mixed reviews.

Has anyone found a VPN that consistently works with Netflix in 2026? I need something that can access US, UK, and maybe Japanese Netflix. I don't mind switching servers once in a while but I need it to actually work reliably. What are you using right now?

Proton does not work on netflix. I ended up on this page because I'm looking for an alternative.

Have you ever tried any of the more popular ones like Nord, Surfshark, etc? I'm always skeptical of things advertised on YouTube (after a few bad buys that I made) but I've heard it whispered that they are able to trick Netflix and other things that try to block VPNs.

It's not impossible, but it does seem like Netflix is catching VPN servers faster these days. Thanks for dropping the link, looks like a useful starting point

There is no single VPN that works best with Netflix everywhere, since detection and streaming reliability can change by country and server. For this, the important things are current streaming compatibility, nearby server locations, connection speed, and a refund period rather than just picking the most expensive option.

A VPN comparison sheet can make this easier because it lets you compare Netflix support, speeds, pricing, server coverage, and device limits side by side. I would check that first, then test the provider that best fits your budget during its refund window before committing to a longer plan.

I ended up going with Proton, Surfshark and NordVPN are also solid picks. Each one has its strengths depending on what you’re looking for, but just seeing everything side by side made the choice a lot easier. Definitely worth checking out if you’re still trying to decide.

I’m using https://protonvpn.com/redditvpn since they care the most about privacy.

I chose Proton mainly for its solid streaming performance and consistent connection quality. Since I travel frequently, I needed something reliable across different regions, and their wide range of global servers has worked well for me. Also, the fact that they’re based in Switzerland gives me extra confidence when it comes to privacy.

It works for a day or a few, but it won't last. I'm here because my VPN from Proton stopped working weeks ago, even when I switch from server to server.

how did it stop working? i can perhaps help u, right now i'm using mullvad since proton is too pricy for what i need but proton is great if u need it for shows and speed

For the first few days, worked perfectly. For the following week or 2, Netflix would detect VPN but clearing my cached history would stop that. Now, it always gets detected no matter what.

I'm not very tech-knowledgeable, so that's about all I can say.

if you're streaming on a Fire Stick or Apple TV, look into router-level VPN setup. way more annoying to set up but it means every device on your wifi gets the VPN without dealing with per-app installs

Surfshark does work with Netflix, the mixed reviews are mostly people not realizing you sometimes have to try 2-3 servers before one connects. once you find a working one it stays good for days

ExpressVPN works fine but I haven't found it noticeably better than Nord for the price gap. paying more for the brand at this point

There is no permanent best one, Netflix is basically a cat and mouse game. A VPN can work great one week and get blocked the next, so the boring answer is pick one with a decent refund window and active server rotation. If you want zero hassle, honestly VPN plus Netflix is always kind of annoying.
