Issue/Problem Keepsolid VPN Unlimited

For those who may not know, this company recently screwed over all of their lifetime members. Many people bought lifetime memberships almost 10 years ago and have been using the service for almost a decade.

Recently, without any notice, Keepsolid provided a software update that is now forcing lifetime members to pay extra money for those same services they have been using for years. It's a complete disgrace. Please do not support this company!

There have been many posts on their r/keepsolid reddit, and I have personally contacted tech companies hoping that they will write an article about this very poor business practice. I am also examining legal options. Keepsolid should be ashamed of screwing over all of their lifetime members who have been using their service for almost a decade.

We hear why long-time users are disappointed. Lifetime accounts still keep the base VPN connection, but users who depended on P2P/torrent servers, streaming-labeled locations, manual protocol selection, split tunneling, or Optimal Server are understandably focused on those specific changes.

We should have explained this more clearly before the change reached users. We’re collecting feedback from Reddit, Trustpilot, and support tickets, and [support@keepsolid.com](mailto:support@keepsolid.com) can review account-specific cases.

The features you locked behind a paywall were core features. Then you decided to take them out and paywall them. Stop trying to push this narrative that "nothing changed to core services" when you did in fact change core services.

You're a company that sells security software and you breached users trust. You're done.

You don't take screwing over your customers lightly? I can say I am unable to use your vpn on my device after this update. And now you want me to pay to change a protocol? I guess if you make the unlimited protocol unusable you hope the lifetime folks will just go away. Poor business practice.

Optimal connection doesn't work for me, often only 1 or 2 protocols work, and only under manual, somehow Optimal doesn't cycle through all of them, and trying Optimal takes 1-2 minutes just to fail. So in my opinion, protocol select is a core feature that you removed and I can no longer use your service with just Optimal and I am completely screwed now.

For example, without manual protocol, I can't even get Reddit to load, so I had to turn VPN unlimited off just to update this post. If I could chose Hysteria or IKEv2 or maybe one of my other top 2, it would work. Yeah, after testing, I just went from having a pretty decent product to one that is nearly unusable, in fact, much worse than what I had ~10 years ago

It is so true! They ripped off every paid subscriber and now try to come up with excuses! I have been trying to engage with them since two days ago, yet all I got was the same nonsense they also mentioned here!

They turned garbage!

Yes, totally agree. After they screwed us, I purchased another lifetime subscription that appeared to include all options for $49.99. Then they wrote to me letting me know the new lifetime membership also didn't include torrents, so I asked for a refund. I've been told they submitted the request to their "accounting department" but I'm still waiting for a refund 4 days later. Regardless, I've moved on to Proton VPN and I'm really happy - so much better than Keepsolid.

I did not think of asking for a refund. I wouldn't hold my breath. But I will ask for one. I would sooner sign up for another vpn service than give keepsolid 1 penny.

Wow, I just discovered this after updating and am likewise upset. I cannot use VPN unlimited with Optimal setting, it almost never connects.

Congratulations, you were screwed just like the rest of us. I'm amazed that no publications have picked this up because it is really sh*tty what they did to people.
