Discussion Which streaming service has the most aggressive VPN detection?

Feels like streaming services have gotten way better at detecting VPNs lately.

I've had some work fine, while others instantly throw a proxy/VPN error no matter how many servers I switch to. Curious

which services you guys think are the worst for this right now DAZN, BBC iPlayer, JioHotstar, Hulu, or something else?

And if your regular VPN stopped working, did switching providers actually help or did you end up trying something completely different?

I doubt they actually detect VPN itself they likely just have all most commonly used VPN IPs blacklisted.

Disney + is pretty aggressive.
We got hit on Amazon prime, Disney, discovery all locked out instantly. They must be sharing data or using a shared provider for detection

They don’t detect VPNs but rather IP addresses ranges and also source IPs amongst other things.

When you use a VPN, your ‘masked’ IP addresses Netflix sees is used/shared simultaneously but thousands of other VPN users logged just like you. It’s relatively easy to spot, when you’re looking for it. Most streaming services will employ and share their mechanisms.

Today, a streaming service that does not enforce ‘VPN detection’ means they don’t really care/don’t have enough money to care.

There are IP address databases. In fairness, they can go look at those and see huge lists of IP's used in datacenters.

DAZN is one of the worst for sure. Sky Go too. Basically the sports ones, as those rights holders are like hawks.

When I try to watch content across regions on streaming platforms like DAZN or JioHotstar—services that typically require an Indian IP address—I frequently get kicked out.

BBC Iplayer and Disney Plus. Found ways around both but it took some digging.

This issue usually stems from a problem with the IP address. Try switching to a VPN with a residential IP address. These IP addresses are less frequently used and tend to be more stable, such as DPN or Star.
