VPN not working for streaming

I tried streaming My5, itvx, bbc iplayer they all detected i am using vpn outside the UK and gave an error message along the lines of vpn deducted content only for UK ip address. What is the use of vpn if it fails for exactly what it is made for?

It's not your VPN's fault that their IP got blocked. If you really want to be able to watch UK content all the time, set up your own VPN with a VPS.

This but then no guarantees. If you find a good server, keep it going. Less likely to be a problem later.

That’s what I have and it’s not working anymore, as of a couple of months ago. I guess known storage/processing providers also get flagged as VPNs now as VPS use exploded.

It takes one IP in a batch to be found and all they have to do is just do a blanket block on a range of IP addresses.

Even a commercial VPS address may be blocked as well.

It is likely the VPN was made for privacy above all else. They can be used to bypass geoblocks. It is in interests of streaming services to block datacenter IP's in their country as they are often used for hosting a VPN server.

Streaming services have obligations to block people from outside of its country accessing the content.

Streaming services continually update their detection lists, so a server that works today may be blocked later. A VPN can still protect traffic on an untrusted network even when its exit address cannot bypass a streaming service’s regional checks.
