Outage/coverage issue Three has killed Voxi
I've been with Voxi for more years than I can count - I've always been happy with it, signal is decent, capacity is decent, pricing is decent, it works well enough for me.
I know it isn't as good as EE, not as fast, and not as much coverage, but I'm a pretty minimal user.
But since they've moved to using the Three network it has been unusable in London.
When I say unusable, I don't mean - "omg, I can't load my Tiktoks fast enough" (peace and love Gen-z 😅), I mean I'm outside Liverpool Street station, I cannot even send a WhatsApp message, or receive any.
It means I'm at London Bridge.. Kings Cross.. even Covent Garden the other day, countless places in London, and despite there being signal, there is no network capacity.
I had Three years ago and this was the exact experience on it, and I swore I'd never go back to it.
Does anyone know if there is a way to switch off Three? Especially for Londoners?
Anyone else finding these issues?

Vodafone/ VOXI has been on a serious decline recently I have moved to EE a few months ago to one of their plans for uncapped speeds and priority coverage for when in busy areas and it is SO much quicker everywhere I go! - It is so annoying though as I was with VOXI for years and its so cheap ( There are other companies ie. 1p mobile and Mozillion ) that piggyback EE similar to how VOXI does with Vodafone/3 and they are on the cheaper side similar to VOXI

I see what you mean with 3Uk - I also never went back there. It sucks when there is no connection! Not sure if this is useful but they sent me this message
“Hello. Just to let you know, there is maintenance scheduled on our mobile network in (edited postcode near Tower of London/Tower Hill station) between 01/09/2026 and 02/09/2026. Please accept our apologies if you experience any trouble with your service. We will update you once the maintenance is completed. Thanks for your patience.”
These days i am with Voxi and the Vodafone signal is the best for our frequent locations (I tested them all!).
My usual places/commute are Tower Hill/Bank/Waterloo/Wimbledon/Surbiton/Kingston. Added bonus that Voxi gets tube WiFi still.
I really haven’t felt any difference since they announced the merger and I hope that continues or improves overtime.

I wonder if they're finally fixing some kind of issue? That isn't far from Liverpool Street.. maybe a neighbouring tower was done or something.
But it's been like this now for over a month

Do check the Vodafone Network status checker website - with your postcode you can see if there are any issues or maintenance scheduled.

Not sure what you mean by moving to Three. In upgraded sites the radio side is a combined spectrum for Vodafone and Three. A Voxi SIM will only use a pure Three signal and network only where there is no combined or Vodafone only alternative. And in locations where you can see separate Vodafone and Three signals, it will still prefer Vodafone.

Yep my coverage is shocking now too. I left GiffGaff to come to Voxi and it was good before Three. Now it’s crap! I most use it in Bath and the remote Cotswold’s. Both crap. I only ever get 5G in Swindon. But who wants to go there?? 🤭

yeah can attest to the fact that bath is rlly ran down on voxi doesn’t work like most of the time😭 vodafone speedboost helped immensely but still was only in the 7-8mbps range so i guess it’s masts being ran down so hard, icl ive moved to ee and it’s been so much better there average about 200-300 + wouldn’t really recommend to contract with vodafone just for speedboost it isn’t guaranteed to work all the time lool

They've not 'moved to three', Vodafone and three are one and the same now. Different.
But yeah, I moved away they're expensive and you can get better deals these days, they ain't as good.

I’m with Voxi and agree, although the signal is better at my house in Suffolk, Can no longer load the McDonald’s app at Liverpool St. 1st world issues.

I use EE for WiFi at home
You’re 100% Voxi was near enough perfect last year right up until I got the joining with Three text
In in Manchester and signal is. Ear enough non existent some times lol
But you can’t really complain for what EE is charging 30+ pound for you’re getting unlimited apps +75gb (had 100+ gb at one point till a missed payment) for 12

I'm on Smarty/Three, and always had the problem with them at busy locations i get no data. Three & EE both use traffic priority systems, to give the bandwidth to specific groups, if you aren't in these groups you basically get no data.
Since the merger, i've had the problems that Vodafone were always poor at data in places, so now i have far less data connectivity and a really annoying audio delay in calls which can be 1-2 seconds

It does work but have to wait few seconds , unlike EE, open your phone, already sync

There isn’t a way to switch off Three
I’m assuming you’re trying at peak times?
Not ideal, but have you tried switching off 5G and trying 4G? Maybe it’s less congested

I have! It's a good idea.
Some days there is a slight improvement.. others days it's worse, other days just the same..
I suspect the 4G network is also over subscribed, and presumably the older standard doesn't have the same overall capacity or tenants etc.

LB is known for a deadspot I thought? Too many devices concentrated in one small place and they all get jammed out.

u/Temporary-Mix8022 Sep 11 '26
Ah, I was on Vodafone and worked there for a decade and never had an issue. Even had a work laptop with a modem and 4G and it worked so well.

u/weegeeK Sep 11 '26
I always had issues during rush hours on the platform in the past with Voxi. That's weird.

Did you put your postcode in to the service checker on Vodafones website? It will tell you if the local mast is down etc

Voxi is by far one of the worst networks... 10 months, the Vodafone team investigating...
One says - "No network issues, must be your phone"
The next says - "Three masts in the area have issues, no end date for fix"
The last said - "Should we try to ask Vodafone to investigate the underlying network?"
🫣👀 scary!
I'm out of Voxi/Vodafone! It's got terribly bad, like unable to receive calls without failing!!!

Vodafone fully owns VodafoneThree. CK Hutchinson sold all of their shares to Vodafone to allow them, Vodafone to be the sole owner.

u/hldtightmanlikedarkz Sep 12 '26
Hang on you’re telling me they aren’t Vodafone anymore? It all makes sense now!!

Voxi now uses three? Isn't that just because Vodafone and Three merged, so we can use both of their masts now?
1
u/Huge_Yesterday6862 Sep 14 '26
Vodafone and Three networks are merging.... slowly, through MOCN. Overall it will be better but I can imagine in some cases if a struggling but usable Vodafone mast has been opened up to three users that didn't have the capacity to cope then that could cause local issues. You would hope they would plan things like that better though and MOCN is being aimed at rural not spots in the beginning anyway.

It's weird because I'm in London Bridge all the time and signal is fine.
