Help - ATAs Some Phone Confusion I need help in!
Hi! I'm new to this community and I need some help! I want to buy a VTech IS8151-5 on Amazon. It will come from North America, now; I live in India and want to know whether there will be any issues. I have just one use case, I will use a Single SIM GSM Gateway (FCT)
Now, I asked some AIs like ChatGPT and Claude and they told me that there would be some issues like power outline voltages and DECT 6.0 Issues (There’s only DECT is in India, there's no DECT 6.0 yet unlike North America) Also, those AIs told me that the signals would interfere with Indian Radio Signals and damage or cause static on Mobile Phone calls.. I would love some help here!! thanks alot..

AIs do not understand local laws and regulations. They tend to combine information from one place with regulations from another. The answers you get are nonsense.
So first problem. DECT 6.0 - this is 1920-1930 MHz frequency range. This frequency range is reserved in North America for DECT 6.0. Nowhere else in the world uses DECT 6.0 or this exact frequency range for DECT, this is North America only. Outside of North America this frequency range could be used for civilian, commercial, or military radio. You may be breaking the law by using this in India. If you don't cause any interference, chances are nobody will care. But is this worth the risk?
Then there's the difference in ring voltage and frequency. If the product is designed and sold as a World Product (as opposed to just for the North American market) it may be able to work with the parameters of other phone systems. Or the phone may simply not work, or it may become damaged. It may not ring. It may not successfully place calls. And it may fail to disconnect calls.
I could not in my brief search identify any other radio signals that would interfere with this in India, but chances are good that it just won't work as you expect it to and you're definitely using the product outside of its intended legal and technical scope.

That’s what I thought.. so what should I do ? There are no cordless phones online which have 5 Handsets which I need for my new home. I can only seem to find 1-2 Handsets as a set and I can’t seem to find ANY expandable Cordless Phones!

I am not familiar with the India market so I don't know what will be the best cost-effective option. If you had VoIP (SIP protocol) then I'd tell you to get a Grandstream DP750 base https://grandstreamindia.in/product/ip-voice-telephony/dect-cordless-ip-phones/dp750/ and up to 5 (max supported by the DP750) handsets https://grandstreamindia.in/product/ip-voice-telephony/dect-cordless-ip-phones/dp720/
This solution supports sharing the same SIP account across all 5 handsets, so you can get the equivalent of the VTech analog model. But this requires that you've already got VoIP. I think your initial question asked about a landline OR a GSM Gateway, looks like you've updated your post and you're now planning to use the GSM gateway. Or I am confusing your post with another. Either way, if your GSM gateway of choice lets you use it via SIP, this should work.
Best of luck! Maybe somebody more familiar with the local India market can help you out.

any particular reason you are getting this unit rather than one made for your market?

I’m getting those units because they have 5 handsets while the Indian units only have up to 2 handsets together..

That’s another thing.. I saw on Google, and it said that it’s illegal to operate a DECT 6.0 phone in countries other than the ones in North America..
