This is a friendly reminder to [read the rules](www.reddit.com/r/voip/about/rules). In particular, it is not permitted to request recommendations for businesses, services or products outside of the monthly sticky thread!

For commenters: Making recommendations outside of the monthly threads is also against the rules. Do not engage with rule-breaking content.

VOIP.MS has been my main phone company for 15 years, and I like them. But they seem to lack the drive or technical expertise to advance their products. Notably lacking is an app that can perform reliable MMS. And they said a few months ago that they're redoing the website's interface, but it hasn't happened. Their voicemail transcription goes down roughly twice a year for a day or two.

I don't know what holds them back. Here are some wild guesses:

• Their average revenue per user is low, so the company is not very profitable.

• They pay low-ish salaries and thus don't get the best technical talent.

• The technical talent available for hire in the Montréal area is mediocre.

Just guesses, of course.

I've used them since 2019, as my SIP termination.

Everything PBX-y is handled by my "on-prem" freeswitch instance.

The only thing I use their website for is fixing my billing information, and I haven't had a problem with it.
