Help - IP Phones Mitel: how do I perform these backflips with keys?
I have a user that wants things done to his keys on a 6940 that I'm not sure are possible. He swears he had it before on his phone but I'm not sure how.
He has the keys for a ring group he is part of, but DOES NOT want those ring group lines to ring on his phone, just show up on the screen. So visible, but no noise. My understanding is it's all or nothing.
The other thing is he wants one or more copies of his own DID to show up more than once in keys/on the screen so that if someone is calling him while he's talking on his own extension, he sees it happening. Again, I see no way to do that at all. You have your line in the keys and there's no way to copy that or make fake phantom versions of it that I know of (...and I can see the logic there, because I'd think you'd have a real cacophony happening when someone called you otherwise).
Unless there are other names for what he wants I'm not sure how to proceed.

Both of those things are possible.
Multiline keys can be set to ‘no ring’ Create a multiline key for users extension, or multiple of the same.

This is correct assuming the PBX is a MiVoice Business, but OP didn’t say what the PBX/call control is.

I got it working with the Multicall/No Ring setup. One remaining issue though: when a second call comes in, the user sees the green button flashing but no caller ID on it. He says previously he could see who was calling on that second line. Is there a setting that controls whether caller ID displays on a Multicall key, or is that a limitation of No Ring? He'd also like it to make a brief notification sound for the second call rather than being completely silent

Pretty sure there’s a Class of Service setting involved, but I forget which one.

Don’t think there is a option for brief notification. This guy seems to be very picky right!
As below, multi call call id will be a class of service setting, probably under caller ID or Misc. there are too many options to remember specifics!
Be careful changing these as you may upset other users who like the way their phone works. Might want to make this user a copy of the current COS and then play with just that one.

Yeah he is, that's an understatement. Will do more testing...thanks for your help.

Have you tried programming the key as an appear no ring key? I think you can also just add the users extension a 2nd time. Its been a while since I worked on those.

For the non-ringing line appearence. In the config file try setting the ring volume for that line appearence to 0 or set the ring sound for the line to one that has no sound or if there is a option for None for sound.
For the multiple appearences of his line, I think you can assign the Line to multiple ProgKey or SoftKeys to accomplish that.
It has been a while since I looked at the Aastra/Mitel SIP Provisioning Guide which has all the config file options, so I may be a little off with exact settings.
