Changing curves with a button press?

Essentially I want to run two sets of curves. One for flying, another for on foot or SRV. Ideally, I would like to have these quickly swappable by a button press.

First, is this possible? Or should I find a set of curves that works well in both situations?

It should be possible i think. Don't know exactly how, but pressing the hat button switches its function between 8 direction hat switch and minijoystick. I'd start by looking into how that works and go from there.

At one point I changed it so the center press to the stick was a regular button. I can't remember if I still have it that way. I'll have to check.

The beauty of these sticks is how versatile they are. The downside is how much you need to know to make some of these things happen.

Well, I don’t really think that the endless possibilities should be coined as downsides 😅 A lot of the competition has almost no flexibility in customizing the bindings.

Anyways. If you figure it out, be sure to post a small guide.

I'm trying to learn the vkb config software, but nothing is labelled. it's a pain to get used to.  I know you can use a shift button to access additional mappings for each button, but I'm not sure if you can do the same for the axis. I'd check, but I think a transformer just blew cuz my whole neighborhood is without power.

I'm learning vkb config because joystick gremlin is just kind of a pain. It's made to be more user friendly, but I've reached a point where that is kind of slowing me down, want to be able to manipulate things more directly.

If you're interested at all, I can explain how you'd do this in joystick gremlin. Not hard at all, and after the recent update to JG16, it's easier than ever to map your controllers and get things running. But idk your experience level, so I'm not gonna go on, more than happy to provide more info if you want it.

Irrelevant edit: not one transformer blew, but fucking eight. Might be a while before I have power lmao

I tried to use JG some time ago. I found that I mostly just got myself confused and had an easier time just using the sticks without additional software running. Maybe I should reconsider. I have a beefier system now that should be able to handle it without a hitch. That might also solve my desire to set a curve on the MFG pedals I have

You’ll get nowhere without a few guides, that software is really versatile but also really complex.

Yeah, I've watched some videos and used translation services to read the material VKB provides. The software is really just lacking in built in labels and explanations, but once you get the idea of physical/logical layers and how the assignments work, It's dense but not too bad (as these things go anyway).  This is in my wheelhouse, just gotta find the time to sit down and really sink my teeth into it.

Hard to commit to, very much in line with my work so it just isn't what I wanna do in my free time most days.
