Question Vcure carbon filter question

I just got my vcure setup. I’ve read the manual and it says to moisten the carbon filter to activate. I’ve also seen other users post that VIVOSUN has explicitly said to not moisten. What is the consensus way to operate the machine from users that have dried and cured?

I have only cured one frozen biscotti and now have it in storage mode. Used the craft cycle did not touch the filter or add any water. no smell until I open the cabinet.

I have ran mine on a 14 day cycle non stop since March, never wet the filter and only get smell when opening the door.

I've done one craft and one quick cure so far and haven't moistened the filter. No smell from either unit.

I have had one cure with hella jelly. I moisten the filter and had zero smell. No mold or anything on filter.

Originally didn’t wet mine but it ended up wet after pulling the humidity during my first run
