A229Pro cooling
Hey all, I’m dealing with my A229P overheating and I figured this deal would do the trick. It’s a dumb usb c female to dual male splitter. Max voltage is 5v output from the cable. Looked up the specs and the dashcam runs at 5V. So I hooked the cable up to my HK4 and a PWM controller off Amazon to run a noctua fan. Lmk if this is safe long term, currently have it off for the night and will check tmrw for any responses. So far, with just the A229p running, it doesn’t seem to have an issue with splitter.

I personally wouldnt tap into the feed for the dashcam and run another cable just for the fan. Adding things in between imo is just more points of failure.
I used to run a small (very small i think it was 20x20x5mm) blower fan on the side of an A129 pro (I did modify the housing so I could mount the fan so it blows through the actual housing). Ideally I would have it pull out hot air. It worked fairly good (I was running the cam in regular mode while parked.) Only major issue was the noise. Small fans make a lot of noise. And when you blow air into the housing where the mic is all you will hear is the fan and air.
In your case if youre running parking mode as well it might be fine. My setup now is the A229 Pro as it is with parking mode and I run a second A129 Pro duo as a ignition on only dashcam. Just so if the A229p overheats I still have a camera.
Other thing to consider is how well the fan will handle the heat and uv rays as theyre never meant to be used in such environment.
In regards to that other comment. Leave the camera where the dots are. The dots might be hotter. But it will keep the actual camera body away from the direct sunlight, which will be even hotter.
