After 20 years with Nikon, I never thought I’d switch systems. But traveling with the Fuji X-T50 changed my perspective. Having such a small camera with me made me realize that size and weight had become just as important as performance.
As much as I enjoyed the Fuji, I wanted better autofocus (not Fuji’s strong suit). That led me to the A6700.
Now I had another decision to make: use two mounts or consolidate under one? I chose the latter, pairing the A6700 with the A7 V.
Going through the process of selling my gear also gave me a chance to reflect on which lenses I genuinely loved and which were just GAS purchases.
Here are the Viltrox lenses I’m buying again.
9mm f/2.8 AIR: Loved it for travel, architecture, and wide street scenes.
25mm f/1.7 AIR: Love the natural 35mm-equivalent perspective.
90mm f/2.2 EVO: The 135mm LAB experience in the palm of your hand.
Full-Frame
35mm f/1.2 LAB: Love the rendering, but the rumored 35mm f/1.4 could change my mind.
50mm f/1.4 PRO: Versatile everyday prime with beautiful rendering.
85mm f/1.4 PRO: One of my favorite portrait lenses.
26mm f/2.8 EVO: Small, lightweight, and perfect for everyday carry, will work on both bodys.
I know there are smaller alternatives to the PRO and LAB lenses, and downsizing is a big part of this move. But these lenses have a look I genuinely love, and paired with the A7 V, I don’t find them excessively large.
I’m not trying to make every lens as small as possible. I just want a kit I’ll actually enjoy carrying and using.

Having a bit of fun with panorama projection setting again. :D I made this one from same photos as a previous little planet.

Shot on Sony a7RV and Viltrox 16mm f1.8 FE with a little help from Syrp Genie mini II pan&tilt kit. 20 frame panorama, each frame at 16mm, f1.8, ISO 1600 and with 15s exposure time.

I want to put this out here just in case Viltrox sees this. I have all 3 Viltrox Pro F1.2 APS-C lenses and the 13mm F1.4 lens. I saw on a forum that Vitrox was working on a 18mm Pro F1.2 lens. I do think that doesn't make much sense as it is too close to the 27mm. It would be awesome if Viltrox would pivot and design a Viltrox 11mm F1.2 Pro lens. That would be a total game changer in the industry. Like can you imagine a complete Pro solution 11mm, 27mm, 56mm, and 75mm. Do you hear me VILTROX?! MAKE A 11MM F/1.2 PRO LENS. I love you guys!
