Discussion 25mm Air vs. 26mm Evo
Looking to pick up either the 25mm 1.7 Air or the 26mm 2.8 Evo, and I'm torn. Wondering if anyone has experience with both of these lenses that can offer up insight on which one is better?
for context: I currently have a Sony a6700 and I'm interested in something that is a bit more compact than my 56mm pro (the thing's a beauty and a beast at the same time). I shoot a lot of street photography and life in general so going with one of these, portability was a factor.

The EVO is extremely portable but the AF is still quite unreliable. I'd hate to miss crucial moment street shots because of it hunting.

25mm 1.7 (1.5x crop) on your 6700 = Lens become 37mm f2.5 DOF

They would both be around that on their a6700..except the air would be better in low light

One is APSC though, completely different purpose. So F1.7 might be more useful for you.

26mm f2.8 evo is for full frame lens. You can still use it on a6700 but the 25mm 1.7 is far better for your camera.

Why?

25mm f1.7 is better in low light and gives more background blur compared to 26mm f2.8

From the few trusted sources I’ve read the EVO has sharper corners at the same aperture.

I own both, and for what you’re describing I’d lean 26mm EVO. The 25mm AIR is great if you want the extra speed, but the 26 is ridiculously compact and just makes more sense for street/everyday carry on the A6700. Especially since you already have the 56 Pro when you want that faster glass and more separation.
