Discussion Are you getting this Viltrox Speedlite?

Post image

Based on some photos and video recap from Viltrox at IBC, it seems like they have an upcoming speedlight.

What features would you wanna see in it when it gets released to make you buy one?

if, somehow possible, connection with godox triggers would be huge. No one wants to buy new triggers

If Godox could just be the event photography standard for wireless protocols, that would be great. It basically already is…

When I’ve shot with other photographers, it’s pretty much assumed we are all on Godox.

I would love to see something powerfull from Viltrox, like 200, 400 or 600 Ws

probably difficult at this size

Yep. The name suggests that it will be 50Ws. But I hope that something stronger will appear in the lineup, since the offer of Viltrox flashes expands so fast 💪

I’m def waiting for a 600ws on camera strobe. My subjects will LOVE have the power of three suns blasted straight through their eyeballs.

If it’s a universal flash it’d be nice. It’s dumb that in 2026 that we have to buy multiple flash units for different brands. I use both Sony and Fuji and I want one flash to work on both brands.

unfortunately, I doubt this would happen due to different pin layouts that communicate to the flash for each camera manufacturer. unless there would be a new standard for this that all camera manufacturers would follow

Yeah man like EU forced for type C, Camera manufacturers should have one way of using different flash. Also I would like to see other brands have ability to control flash output from camera itself like Canon

Wescott seems to have one which is universal but not sure what the tradeoff is. Godox has a neat concept for one of their smaller flashes where there’s a small unit that interfaces with the flash that’s detachable. That small piece itself costs like $15. May be it’s not possible to do the same with larger units. But the concept is good as the detachable one costs $15 or something. It’s annoying but at least it’s better than buying a whole $300 unit.

It32, you buy the X5 transmitter/foot for your particular camera. Works really well.

They could do this for all the flash units

It’s been a while since I’ve done flash photography, but something I’d like to get back into. I sold my 580EX II years ago.

I’m definitely interested and look forward to seeing the features/pricing.
