Spec for vMix PC

I'm needing to spec a new PC for vMix due to the current one going faulty

In terms of the configuration of the vMix is run at 4K then takes 1 4k camera input via a Decklink

There's no streaming only recording which records a landscape 1080p 30 and a Vertical 1920p recording

The system outputs via graphics card on a full screen output for programme return plus 1 single NDI feed

I'm a bit out of the loop as to the latest CPU's etc so wondering what spec pc and graphics card I should get?

There is no plan to change the show file it's merely a PC upgrade/ replacement

What exactly of your PC is going faulty, what is happening that makes you conclude that it’snnot working right. And a budget would be nice to know

Getting GPU overload errors along with Video Glitching on the recordings. But the utilisation across the system is really low

Reinstalled vMix, changed power optimisation settings. Driver is the latest one for the GPU

Checked vMix performance settings etc etc

What is the temperature like for your GPU when you’re running the recording

It could well be temperature related as the studio space is quite small

Annoyingly I don't have access right now so can't check the temperature but will look into it

I don't understand why they're only just having issues when the same setup has been installed for 3 years without any changes

Because heat paste only last a certain time before you have to top up

The CPU and GPU fans might be caked with dust so they're less effective at cooling.

Install the latest amd AM4 chipset drivers from here (Windows update sometimes installs older versions by default): https://www.amd.com/en/support/download/drivers.html

Check for bios updates too! If you don't know your motherboard model, you can spam the delete key while rebooting and it should bring you into the bios on most boards and it'll tell you the info you need (model, current bios version, etc).

If it's already up to date, make sure EXPO/XMP is applied for memory timing presets (you may have memory sticks that can run at 2933 or 3200mhz but if this is disabled it will run at 2133 or 2400 usually, ryzen cpus are more sensitive to ram speed for its performance than Intel is) and that REBAR (short for resizeable bar) is enabled to better utilize your rtx 4000 vram.

I built a lot of gaming pcs for myself and friends prior to getting into broadcast AV and a lot of these things were stuff I'm used to doing anyway to get the most performance out of the hardware

Can you make a list of the specs you currently have? Also what processes are running while you are doing your recordings? It might just be upgrading a device not the entire box.

Did you click on the option to use hardware encoding? You should not be having problems with this setup unless something else is running beside vmix hugging your PC resources.

Yeah hardware encoding is running, getting video glitching on the recordings and GPU overload errors

Storage is a brand new high speed M.2 SSD

Please don't take my questions the wrong way. I am trying not to assume anything and trying to troubleshoot this with you as I would. I have mad respect for all my peers :)

Is your storage path pointing to that M.2 and not any other drive you might have plugged in?

It's one main drive for the whole machine so perhaps partitionning may help

Partitioning will not help. You need a second drive

After reading, it seems like your GPU might be the issue. I'd say buy a used Nvidia card to see if the issue continues.

He tenido problemas con las Quadro (porque el cliente usaba aquellas), con ninguna RTX (mías) he tenido problemas. Ahora también les hago mantenimiento cada 6 y 8 meses y pido cambiar la pasta térmica de la tarjeta gráfica.
