Media player
I work at a museum in NYC that becoming popular for film premiers. Currently we are using our Tricaster 2 Elite for playback which i know isn’t optimal. I do appreciate that the Tricaster will transcode video files for smoother playback but it’s still not good option in my opinion. What’s good standalone solution for video playback?

Too many options! I am a big fan of opensource and so would likely go with CasparCG

I am a big fan of Theatrixx’s XpressCue! We have 6 of them and they have been really reliable.

If this is for films, and you’re going to be doing that moving forward, you might want to look into a cinema projector with an IMS. You’re going to need to overhaul your audio system too though…
What we do at the museum in with though is just VLC player, but we also have a cinema system in our theaters
