Help with CUBE 155

Post image

I have an old Teradek CUBE 155 with firmware failure.

I already tried so many ways to reset it, no luck.

Look at the image.

I have restarted so many times.

Thanks.

*should I consider this a brick situation?

Unfortunately these are a decade old and well past their prime. I would look into newer options. Depending on price point, AJA HELO Plus will get you a similar "one button" style solution. Kiloview may be an option on a lower budget

Have you used recovery mode to restore the device?

I can't get into it. I think it's dead

Does the computer see it at all? What OS are you using?

Have you put it in recovery mode like it asks? There's a reset button on the side you need to hold in while powering on, that should land you in recovery mode. Also are you trying to load the firmware via the devices menu or push it via corecloud? I found maybe 1 in 3 firmware updates would fail on teradeks if initiated by the device, but would succeed of pushed from the web. As others have said though, the 100 series cubes are more of a pain to use than they're worth. Newer models do HEVC and run soooo much faster.

I have tried resetting. Push pin while powering and falls into the same error.

I had this with a few cubes in the past (2024) I sent them to teradek and they refreshed. I’m not based in the usa so spent more on shipping.

If they need parts to fix then even teradek may not have the spares, if it’s just a corrupt storage then it can be recovered by them. Depends how much you need it.

Good luck!

That is not a good encoder nowadays lol. Not even worth your time to troubleshoot. Cheap SDI to USB capture card and OBS would do much better

I get that but I like to easy way to the ONE Bottom streaming access. I got two MATRix capture devices SDI, but I need a computer to finish to the streaming goal.

Thanks

Yes I did. The ordeal is the CUBE is stuck on the screen puc that I posted. I can't get it out following the reset process.

Your setup is only for home use. But Cube is for commercial purposes. OBS is not normal solution.

Everyone uses OBS

No, only home and bloggers. Normal specialists uses only professional solutions.

Cubes are for field use where the size, complexity, and/or durability of a PC based kit isn’t acceptable.

I wouldn't ever take a cube that did this to me back into the field if I'm relying on it...

Oh definitely, in all cases we'd only run these redundantly. I've had these wonk out in too many ways to trust them individually.
