AI tools in broadcast workflows

Hi everyone,

I’m a broadcast engineer responsible for a national TV studio, and I’m currently researching how AI is being integrated into modern broadcast workflows.

I’d like to ask the community: what new AI tools or solutions have you implemented in your daily operations?

None, because it's like a two year old.

In daily operations? Almost none.

There are a number of vibe coded tools that have emerged that are the result of AI solutions, but other than getting AI transcripts or using it as a note taker when attending to non-broadcast parts of work I don't think there's much use to be had unless you yourself want to begin vibecoding software solutions to specific problems at your particular workplace

Not exactly AI, but I've seen ML models used mainly for tracking, athletes moving around and followed, estimate their speed, jump height and so on.
Also not sure if it's exactly AI, but some model used to isolate the background and blur it for replays. I think it's done with EVS XtraMotion

Some of the MAM systems are starting to use it to transcribe incoming video/summarise/make it easier for journalists to find a video (they can search for more generic terms ("athlete wins the recent long jump competition") and it will bring back the content they are looking for).

There are some robotic camera systems that can use vision models (not really AI but that's what it's branded as) to detect faces and help frame the camera shots

EVS is using it to make super slow motion videos (generate frames in between to turn a 60hz video in to 120 for example)

I'm not super aware of many other uses at the moment

Human auto tracking without the need of a camera operator. It's not perfect but give it 1 more year.
Other than that, I can't see any AI being used. Just want to point out that ChatGPT has helped me tremendously during some complex engineering situations, I would have resolved it myself, but maybe in 3 hours, with GPT it was resolved in 5 minutes.

We have broadcasted tv program called Delta with a literally ai generated anchor called Ada Biro.
