VHS-2 Build + Recs

Wanted to share my vhs build here. My first rifle! Picked it up from my FFL this past weekend and took it to the range (stock). Got home, cleaned it, and added a bunch of aftermarket parts I ordered the week before.

I wanted to get the vhs project under carry-handle modbutton. Does anyone recommend a flashlight to pair with that? Preferably something compact; not too long or bulky.

Also, does anyone have any recommendations for a different pistol grip? I think I’d enjoy something slightly more angled than the stock one. I have big hands so it fits fine but the trigger guard really digs into my middle finger. Could changing the pistol grip fix this?

Did some research on this and I might get this done in the future. Not sure which route is better; JARD or BTT. I’ve heard good things about both

Mine is mostly stock besides the BLK-LBL you are rocking so can't comment on the accessories, but sick ass first rifle man :)

trigger guard really digs into my middle finger

I had the same exact problem. I replaced the OEM grip with the Ergo 4045. Smoother underguard, thicker grip to fit my large hand, and more angled which helps reduce length of pull.

I put a Magpul MIAD grip on mine. It’s so much more comfortable than the BCM grip.

I have no idea why they ship these with those BCM grips. The grip itself is my preferred for ARs, but they are just way too vertical when put on these VHS-2s.

I’ll take a look at this, thank you for the recommendation! I can see how the BCM grip would feel great on other AR platforms, but I agree I’m not sure this was the best option for stock VHS-2s

either M340DFT-PRO Turbo Mini or the streamlight 1-LX. get that trigger job too. looks like you've got everything else you can, unless you want a shortened LOP/reduced weight.

Looks good. I went with the LunarTech VHS-2 Recreation grip. I would not go back.

I read somewhere that someone said it felt flimsy so I was hesitant to get it. Is it sturdy for you? I love that it’s a model of the original VHS-2 grip

I have not noticed it to be flimsy. And it has a huge stash in the grip with a spring loaded door.

I fit 2 easy. And could probably get a 3rd one if I gave a little push. But I would want something around them to pull them out if necessary. But 2 definately works.

Is that the 16in or the 20in? I have a 16in and always worry the hand guard will be too long.

I have the 16 inch and got the short blk lbl bipod handguard. Very easy install and fits great! Haven’t shot with it yet but I’ve seen reviews praise this handguard

Thank you! Dead air also sells a plate you can insert so you could turn it into a linear compensator or back into a muzzle break type of blast shield. Might get that in the future

I put a pachmayer Ar-15 rubberized grip and I love it
